Just a quick question.
Preference: handles vs. depower bar.
Which do you prefer and which would you recomend for a buggy newb?

I fly both handles and depower. Preference, well it depends on the wind conditions and what you are planning on doing. If you are just starting I would suggest using handles. You get quicker turns and easier to control during lower winds as you are starting out a little slower to get the hang of things.

IMO,

learn on handles with a smaller size to start, if you can fly with them, everything else comes with ease.

I think that buggy riders tend to use handles more than any other group. A bit more kite control is traded for a loss in range. That said, there is NO REASON that your Montana wouldn't do the job.

Go with a kite you know how to fly without thinking. That will free you up to think about the buggy more. You can figure out as you go if you like the handles or bar better.

I seem to fly both with equil time I have a windsurfing pulley bar I use with handles and a hammerhead bar for de-power. I like the de-power for the ease of use and power adjustment. Handles with a fixed bridle give a direct full on power way. I learned on a bar and picked up the handles really fast so it doesn't matter the order bladerunner has it right fly what you know.

I prefer depower kites in gusty off shore conditions and fixed bridles on clean on shore winds

Just some things I've noticed is that with handles you tend to need both hands in the situation of working the kite (jibe'n) and utilize the breaks... unless flying Ozone's or other kites that don't require the break input that most kites do...

Using a bar slows the turning quite a bit, but if you add a 2:1 pulley system it should help substantially and with this set up you can fly one handed relatively easy... This is kind of nice and kick back cruz'n with good control...:singing:

As for my suggestion... fly any and every thing you can, you'll find out what is best for you and best for the conditions...

Does it have pulleys on the bar ends and the outside lines connect to the center lines? if so yes... if your outside lines are direct than no...

Lines are direct, with only center pulley.

If this is your bar than no it's not 2:1...

Could you use a line and bar set up, like the Naish - SLE Control System, or Cabrinha - Powerdrive 221?

Yea, stock bar and line with kite.

Yes... I can't see any reason why not... it will take a lil adjusting to dial it in to the sweet spot... thats just a lil patience...
