Ahhhhhh! Sweet VENOM
Rec'd PL Venom16. bar and loop and powerstrap.
rigged new bar leaders, a longer main and 22.5m lines had no spec to go by so ran it equal with the strap all the out plenty of throw in the bar
maybe 18".
super simple rig. easy self launch, velcro tabs are nice. easy up.
smooth power very predictable. in about 13mph, enough to test, tune and get the feel. barely there bar pressure. the auto zenith is amazing. went
right to the water. floated on my back in the small surf 15-20 min while talking to a windsufer guy he was amazed how i never touched the bar.
ultra stable this has to be an industry benchmark.
nice rig glad i got it gonna need 15knots to ride on the water. could be a little less with my bigger board.
faster than i thought it would be, the power is not as flinty as c and bow kites. water launch on a bow is easier. dropping the kite was the
hardest part.
couple of relaunches, on the water flagged out the same as land, all seemed fine.
i will put it to the board on the water soon as condition's permit. this could easily be the go to kite. maybe 5m ext. next time out, i think
it will just right
totally impressed with PL
i like it

I'm so curious about the PL Arcs...mostly because I hear the eat gusts, and I've been getting beaten up inland. I'd like to hear an opinion from a FS
flyer about them.
Kites: 16m PL Scorpion, 9m & 14m 06 Best Waroo
Vehicles: Thrift store snowboard, fraken-ATB, Old Litewave water board.

They are amazing kites no doubt, the venom1/2 in my opinion was the height of the arc shaped design - the synergy i didn't like so much. Serious lift,
was at kite island this past weekend and a guy on a venom was boosting considerably higher than anyone else on tubes and including myself on a
flysurfer.
The only thing i don't like about peter lynn's is the bar pressure, too much for me and my rubbish tennis elbow
If you have better bones, they rule.
The only other problem i have is kind of an anti problem - if you plan to stay with arcs forever its not a problem at all, but i learnt on a guerilla
and the autozenith was amazing, but when i moved to another kite i was in a very bad habit of not redirecting properly and leaving the kite over my
head because the peter lynns sat there so happily

I've always wanted to try PL kites but where I fly, beach is too narrow to accommodate the length of PL kites.
Something you might want to think about, Barnes.

compared to my LF bow kite this venom has much less bar pressure. in about 18-20mph i am sure it will be more but by far better than my bow.
the anti -problem is there as well. i still have nursing hands from my quiver and the kite idles much better the less i touch the bar.

... which is just about what I predicted for your weight. 15 knots = roughly 18 mph. The Venom 19 would probably get you another 2 or 3 mph. I
-seriously- doubt anyone who says they can go out on the water with an Arc in less than 12 mph, much less 9 mph. I've flown them a very long time,
tried everything that can be done to improve their bottom end and 12 mph is as low as they will go on the water.
One other bit of advice, I wouldn't bother with the "mods" for the Venom I. I gave them a try and for whatever little advantage they may give, I
found they added just as many disadvantages. Don't bother, the kite flies great as is.
My Venom 19 is still for sale if anyone's interested. It's a great kite, very similar to the V16 in all respects except slightly better bottom end
and slightly slower turning.
Oh, and I launched my V19 (as well as Guerillas and Phantoms) on narrow beaches all the time, with sharp coral on one side and tall coconut trees on
the other. It can be done, but you need to be comfortable with Arc launching technique and always launch unhooked (for immediate release if all hell
breaks loose).

WENT OUT TODAY 10-12MPH AND DROPPING A LITTLE TO 10. ADDED 10M EXT. GOT UP ON MY 145 FOR A SHORT RUN OUT AND BACK MAYBE 100 YDS. (teaser gust)JUST TO
TEST THE HOOKED UP FEEL. REALLY HAD TO WORK IT TOO. TOTALLY STOKED. SMOOTHED OUT WATER RELAUNCHES. IT WAS A GOOD DAY TO PUT THE SPEED FLOW ON
RIG, LAUNCH, LAND, RUN THE EXT'S AND GENERALLY FART AROUND ON LIGHT WIND DAY. DEFINITELY GONNA HIT THIS RIG WITH 23M LINE FIRST DAY WITH GOOD AIR.
EVER SINCE I GOT THIS KITE I HAVEN'T PUMP A KITE.
THE LANDINGS END UP BEING JUST A DROP . NOT AS NEAT AS THE BOW (SOLO)
bigkahuna i would agree the mod for VPS would a hindrance on a already simple smooth setup. now that i have some fly time on it i don't know why you
would need it.
kite fits me dead on.
yes 12mph is the limit.

How much do you weigh?
I posted on Arc Users...someone told me that an 8m and a 13m Venom I modded will get me from 10-35mph no problem. (Atleast at my meager 150 pound
weight.) If that the case, I might go with an 8, 13, and 16m and I'll be set 0-35! :wink2:
Still looking for some deals though...if something convincing pops up, I may bail on the inflatos and give the PL Arcs a whirl...sounds like a good,
affordable option for me, especially with my flying situation. (Flying inland, while still kitesurfing and snowkiting.)

208 pounds. Yesterday i ran 32m lines. start with the 13m and see what else need. i bet you would run that 90% of the time. i agree with BK the
mod is not needed.

13mph ---- did a run on the water with the JL 133 very marginal but nice feel 3-4 rounds on the water. then the wind drop which i knew iwould so i
had brought the land board. these is the best part;
WITH THE KITE FLYING STILL HOOKED
dropped the wet stuff, complete reset, pads, gloves, gear to run on land ....sweet
the dry cycle...
maybe 10mph, completely workable on land..
there is a possibility that i may never loose a session because of a failed bladder.

OK, last post on this magic bag of air.
18-20mph, flawless, nearly 2hour session with this Venom 16 with 32M lines on the JL133
UPWIND LIKE MAD, AND EFFORTLESS.
BY FAR THE STEEPEST UPWIND RUNS I HAVE EVER MADE. IHAD MADE UPWIND PROGRESS WITH MY BOW BUT NOTHING EFFORTLESS LIKE THIS.
BONUS ...GUSTY SPOTS, NEVER EVEN NOTICED.
AND MORE WIND MORE BETTER , I COULD RUN THIS RIG IN 25 WITHOUT A THOUGHT.
I AM CLEANING OUT MY TRUCK AND MY FUN BOX.
(so to make room for low wind SA and high wind ???)
big thanks to those gave advice and interest
peace,
chad
