Anyone fly static with boardshort harness'?

Just a question. Id like the idea but dont know if that would be a good choice over a waist harness.

I was thinking of getting either of these
Shorts Harness

or a waist harness

Im leaning twards the waist harness just because I can use that in the fall while wearing pants when its too cold out for shorts :)

Ok ok never mind this question since I just ordered the waist harness. However now I have a new question :(

What kind of safety system should I add to this set up. I want to be able to unhook if/when I need to.

from your quiver it looks like ya got fixed bridles. if your going to use a strop just unhook the strop from the spreader and let go of handles. KS-P-A-M-L-I-N-K-s should do the rest. once that puppy is on...it's on....first time out i was so scared of being attached to the kite. if ya got a depower and u come into the trouble just activate the QR on the bar setup. hope this is what you were asking.

yeah Jason ,ya just unhook from spreader bar, I got a north shore harness that I rarely use, but it operates just like that.If a gust to infinity hits you ,you won't be able to pull it out in time and ya wouldn't be strong enough either. I have been snatched a few times that I'm glad I wasn't hooked in. just watch the wind forcast if your gonna use a harness ,if were gettin gusty wind ,I would think twice about it.

I made up some quick releases for my strops. The method is shown in the DIY god thread.

It is simply a cotter pin, a bit of rope and a piece of tubing but is the same idea as many of my factory releases.

Run the thin rope through the cotter pin. Double it over. Run both ends of the rope through an appropriate sized tube. Larks head the small rope to the main strop. Flop the cotter pin above the knot your strop would have attached to and slide the tube over. Make it easy to pull the tube back and you have a Q.R.

Odds are you will never need it. It's easy to just flop in and out of the hammer head.

Cool thanks guys. Yea I was just worried about there being too much pull on the kite to where I wouldnt be able to get it off the hook.

if your hooked in, you want be static long.

i would recommend AT first to hook in for a break to rest hands and arms. idle the kite take a break make sure its stable.

your points of balance will change. you will be quick to get use to it. but be aware. your back and legs are AT first will be vulnerable to injury.

Thanks for all the info everyone. Yea my main reason for the harness is that that 5m Ace is pulling really strong on my left shoulder and thats the one I dislocated in Feb. I want to use the harness more of a preventative measure than anything...lol.
