Anyone going South this weekend?
I went by the new Real Kite shop last Sat. down in salvo- cool place, the staff/crew were very chaty- stopped on the way home at Jockies Ridge and flew for an hour or so 7mph wind. The wife wants to go back this Saturday. Im drum fishing Friday night at the CBBT(gonna catch a drum) then go kiting ...

I'd love to but I'm going to Richmond on Saturday. If the wind is good on Sunday a few of us might meet in Hampton.

The wind was definitely up there...I was in Avon kiteboarding, or at least that's what I was trying to do.

South? Hatteras is -North- of here! ;) We've had good conditions the last couple of days (I kited for 6 hours today) and the forecast is more of the same. The wind is from the SW at the moment, so pick a spot that's good for that direction and go for it!

I have seen a fellow kiter out at factory point Hampton, VA (only one time).
I went out last night in the James River got some pullage. I need a water kite. My Fury does'nt cut it after a fall.
Im thinking something in the 9M range...
While i was in hatteras last weekend I bought a harness and Bar. I havent tried the bar yet -500lb line. Its thick. I wonder if my 3M would fly with it?

Jockeys Ridge? You mean Sand Dune? What kite were you flying? I called them asking if I can fly my kite (depower kiteboarding kite) and they said no. Then, next day, I saw a big inflatable kite on the Sand Dune :puzzled:

Ah, small kites should be ok then. I wanted to fly big kites and float down the sand dunes......maybe that exactly why they don't allow big depower kites

I saw a sign on the back side of of the dune that said no kiting.:thumbdown:then I asked the ranger patroling the dune/passing out H2O:thumbup:, he said it was fine:puzzled:. My kite is small 3M.
I did see the large fiol kites/sails jumping off the dunes gliding 10 feet from the ground.(pretty cool) but the hike back up would suck...
Im fixing to get a water kite but not sure what size/ make. I know there's lots of variables to aide in buying so ill keep reading these threads.
I like this forum. You guys seem C ool

From what I've heard the Nemesis is targeted toward the more advanced kiter and is harder to relaunch than other kites. If the relauch thing is true you're gonna want a different kite because you'll crash it plenty in the beginning.

The Nemesis HP relaunch is OK, but not as easy as other models. From the ones I have tried, Cabrinha Revolver/Convert, Eclipse Nano, Liquid Force Havoc are all easier.

And far from a flysurfer Pulse....

The Nemesis HP can be a OK kite fr a beginer because there are different settings from FAST to SLOW, and you just need to set it as SLOW. This is just a Waroo more performant.

Looks like more Southerlies on tap here for the weekend, maybe a bit lighter than earlier this week, but it usually blows harder up North where you guys are going. Hope you have a great session!
