he got a great deal from his ex roommate. but now were having a hell of a time getting that thing up in the air-->we're noobs...is there any advice
which might help, or a website with hints on how to correctly assemble it.we're not sure what exactly to do with all the strings on the kite itself.

the main thing is to keep the brakelines quite slack, they need to be tight enough to let you use it for turns and backing the kite back down to the
ground, but loose enough so they can be very slack while flying the kite.
I think there is some good info as well on www.dakitez.com as well.
be careful what winds you fly it in! The ace is not a beginner's kite, and in strong winds can bite hard!
try also scoops guide, it's a sticky in the kites and accesories section of this forum
fixed bridles, flying static, been two years now... ??? folks must be wondering....
sting 1.7, dp power 2.5, crossfire 3.2, ace 5, blade iv 6.5, ace 8, ace 12...
also a couple of arcs, 12 syn and 12 phanny, but i\'m not yet up to speed on them.

If your X didn't tell you that the kite he gave you is a potential KILLER in the wrong hands then I might wonder about his motives :!:
Please look at the past posts . You will find a weekly individual who is trying to go about this all wrong. JUST LIKE YOU !!!!!!!!
Almost every person who has bought a 5m kite as a noob has regreted it . An Ace is even more tricky and LESS FORGIVING !!!!! While no one has EVER
said boy I made a mistake with buying that 3m ( any brand ) . It's the sad truth !!!!
PLEASE PLEASE take time to read the past posts. You will find the knowledge you need + hopefully also see the Xray pictures and stitches and such !!!!

I just got my 5m Ace and flew for the first time last night. The lines I used weren't brand new and I had a hard time getting it to fly well. The
brakes are extremely sensative and mine were too tight. I put some knots closer to the handle and it helped alittle. It doesnt seem to tolerate me
pulling hard on the handles. I wants to fold and the hardest part was getting it off the ground. It was even turning backwards last night. That
said, it pulls maybe twice as hard as my 5m blaze so be carefull! If you are properly scared to fly it you will probably be ok. At least I was last
night. I waited about 10 days just to try it.

what BR said, tho a wee bit heavy on the full caps, is true!
have a look at this thread: http://www.powerkiteforum.com/viewthread.php?tid=6798
and here's another one with pictures of the fracture a fellow sustained his first time out with a 6m of your new kite: http://www.powerkiteforum.com/viewthread.php?tid=5587&pa...
having said that, you'll likely be OK if you approach it with respect and caution, as Stetson also mentions. But the wind has a habit of being
unpredictable, and one of the stories above is of a guy trying to recover his kite and flying it deep into power rather than out to the edge while he
was in the air.... In other words, he didn't have the skills to keep himself safe
But they are tricky to set up!
Consider getting yourself a 3m, then you and your brother have the beginnings of a quiver.... Lots of families share kites, and flying with someone
else is way safer....

Sorry there was no wind this a.m. and I must have been grumpy. I got a session in and am better now
Furb has the best advice. The 2m ace is one sweet kite that I can say I love to fly ! Very affordable if you both kick in. Cool looking in all black
as well ! You will be able to be the master of a kite like that and learn at a much faster rate. The 5m ace will control you. You will spend a lot of
time being yanked around with it and will not be learning much about control. Be very careful with it ! The money you and your Bro' would need to put
in for a 2m or 3m would pay off almost right away when you both learn that much faster + both have a kite to fly !!!
Go to Flexifoil.com and download a set of instructions for a non-adjustable fixed bridle kite. The basics are the same.
Kites: 2.5m Profoil , Quadrifoil XL kitesurfer, NPW 5 Danger.
Flexifoil: 1.7m Sting, 4.9m Blade 3, 9m Blade 2.
Flysurfer : 19m Speed 2 SA, 7m Pulse
Peter Lynn :18m Phantom, 15m Synergy, 10m Synergy, 1200 Farc, 460 Sarc, 130 Tarc, 5m Peel, 4.2m , 6.4, 8.5 C-Quads, 3.5 LS2 single skin.
