Plyboard #1 - Ready to ride!

Well, it was a bit of a marathon but I got it together. Hardest part was drilling the holes for the footstraps and fins because I didn't mark them while the sheet was still square.

I believe this is 145 X 41. Two ply, 1/2" total, flat with tip rocker sanded in for the last eight inches or so, top down rails, 2 coats marine primer, 3 coats marine top coat thinned 10% for thinner application / more coats, automotive vinyl and random stickers. KGB fins (despite the rumor that they are not needed - I can pull them off and try it without), Litewave foot straps slightly heelside of center and no grab handle (I hope I don't regret that).

Off to the water tomorrow afternoon - who knows what'll happen. At worst I'll be tugged behind the boat to give this a go.....if she floats : )

What I learned:
- Won't do 2 ply next time unless I specifically want rocker
- Will mark and drill all holes before shaping the board
- That paint gives a guy a bad headache....better ventilation next time
- A little more sanding before primer and one sand of the primer should give a near plastic finish to the top coat

Looks pretty good. How much does it weigh and what kind of plywood did you use?

I don't know for sure but I'd be hard pressed to put it over 3 lbs. 2.5 maybe? I never thought of that - is that too heavy?

That seems really light actually. I can't remember off the top of my head but I thought production boards are in the 7lb or so range.

I'm a newb to this whole thing so I'm not sure what makes a board to heavy or not, but I'd think it wouldn't matter unless you're jumping a lot.

I'm a noob too, but 1/2" overall would likely give you some natural rocker once you are up and riding, from what I've heard, in other words not quite thick enough to keep stiff in the water, not neccesarily a bad thing....

fixed bridles, flying static, been two years now... ??? folks must be wondering....

sting 1.7, dp power 2.5, crossfire 3.2, ace 5, blade iv 6.5, ace 8, ace 12...

also a couple of arcs, 12 syn and 12 phanny, but i\'m not yet up to speed on them.
