I use to live up in Derbyshire untill a year ago, i found the best place up there was Markeaton park, often found others doing the same thing, or if you can drive head for langor air field, theres miles of disused runways just gagging to be boarded on.
Now im down in surrey, about 20 mins from Portsmouth so i spend my weekends across the road from the beach where the wind never seems to stop. why not take a brake and head south????
