VioKites
By accident I ended up on this web site
http://www.royalkites.nl/
and noticed that sell VioKites
http://www.viokite.it/ (italian only)
It seems to be a closed cell kite but made 4 years ago.
Looking at pictures, kind of seem to have similar material to SilverArrow, so I was wondering if anyone have seen or tried these kites in the past.

We had a set of Vio kites in town for a while. Dirtslide still has the 18m and pulls it out on occasion.
The zipper to adjust the size really worked. They are an O.K. kite but the bridle was a pain , if I remember right.

Oh ya they are way worse. I had a buddy here in OKC that got several of the viokites back in the day and they were not fun to fly at all and they
were quite spendy as I recall for what they were. I would have to say thumbs down on these kites unless they have made huge drastic changes since the
last time I had a chance to fly them.

YUP ,
I was pretty new to foils when I got my hands on these. Only the 18m performed well enough for anyone in town to hold on to one.I think the one I
flew was the 5 - 7 set as a 5. It didn't impress me but I didn't have much to compare to.
I was much better at packing up by the time I moved to Flysurfer. I haven't had the worst of times with my Flysurfers. Pretty minimal trouble accept
for one time. My kite got away and the person who got to it 1st tossed the bar into the bridle. The easy release of the bridle through the break away
tabs that Flysurfer uses made untangling that mess less of a nightmare than I expected.

depower isnt my cup of tea, but if i tried one of these first i would be totally turned off to depowers.
inflatation time takes forever, FS are faster
the trimm strap are soo far away i would need a second arm lenght to adjust it
turning the 18 Vio was a wait all by itself, you would have to crank one side of the bar, and when it turned, it couldnt make a full turn in the air,
it touched the ground. I've seen larger LEI and large foils turn faster and better than this.

Well boys, no need to worry about them, they are defunct. Last I heard some company in Canada was picking up the brand but I don't think that ever
happened. They weren't all bad. I used to ride them on snow, land and water. Even have an old vid of us in light winds in the snow with them.

I still have the Protean2 10.3 but it doesn't see much flight time with the new kites of today available. actually they were very affordable and I
think that was their best selling point. The VR line was a great buggy kite. There was a guy in England that modded the hell out of them and he
thought they were great then.

Actually, after reading that site, I should try to mod my Protean2.. I might be missing something!
