So I'm thinking of picking up a used snowboard rig to try it out this winter. What should I be looking for? What length, width, shape, binding setup
etc? Do you ride with the bindings set perpendicular or duck stance like a kiteboard? Any insight would be appreciated. I have a sneaking suspicion
I'll spend a lot of time heading downwind with the board side slipping but I think I'll be able to get it.
I was going to start a new "what snowboard" thread for this season but you beat me to the punch!
I think that you want to look for a board with low side cut (all mountain type board, not halfpipe/freestyle). As for bindings I think you can use
standard bindings but that "Flow" type bindings are the best because you can step into them. So you can launch the kite and then step into your
board. This might not be a big deal with your PL's and the autozenith :frog: but I think you'd have a hard time using both hands on the bindings
while flying the Access.
I think you've got to ride duck stance if you want to go both ways without going heelside one way and toeside the other.

After watching that vid that you let me borrow you obviously probably know it just needs to be wide enough to not let your heals drag :P.
Kites:PL Hornet 2.0m, 15m Synergy
Dakine Pyro Harness Rides: MBS Comp 16 Pro, Sector9 Longboard, Forum Snowboard And always a helmet My Kiting Blog
Also if you click the Effect bindings on the left that is their rebadged version of the Flow bindings.
I found one other company making a snowkite board so far (plus the Twisted board which is in another thread). I can't find any information on these
guys:
As far as used boards I forgot to mention that I think it's pretty important to look for a true twintip.
It seems like some snowboard companies would be making a kite specific board rather than just the kite companies. Since they are the ones with the
board technology and know how and just need to adapt the board shape to kiting. If anyone knows of a snowboard company that makes a good board for
kiting I'd love to hear about it.
Is this yet another Quebec company leaping ahead in this sport :?:
This looks like just the tool for those blown out lakes in the Alberta nnd such !
For those that don't know, Quebec is almost a decade ahead of most of us when it comes to snowkiting. The folks from Conceptair and a few others are
some of the true poineers of foil kites
I use skis but whatever happened to the " remove your leg plate " theory on snowboard bindings ? I understood it improved your stance and was less
tiring ???

Thanks blade.
In Quebec, for sure, snowkiting is quite popular and much fun. come see us this winter at KiteProject nearby Montreal. Always around 50 snowkiters and more on windy days or events.
I can't exactly describe how proud I am of Quebec. :bigok:
I can't even speak French but I understand what they are meaning when they say floaters, sliders and jumps
If I ever leave Vancouver I'll be joining you in Montreal Mon a me !
Is it just me or does it look like they blurr the other kites out there a lot in that video ? You still can't help but notice Paraski and a lot of
Waroos ! :smug:
