Axle Bolts
Hey legends,
Have a problem,
Got a flexifoil 2002 buggy, upgraded with extra wide axle and just recently scorpion 18x8.5 tyres.
the problem is is that i have bend the axle bolts, any ideas?
Should i upgrade to 20mm bolts, which will mean a new set of rims, and boring out my axle and re-threading them, or what????
PLEASE HELP, buggy has been out of action for 2 weeks now!

If you bend them a little more, you get to have camber. (just kidding) I have bent my bolts too, but not too bad where I have to replace them. If I
ever do, Ill probably go to 20mm and go through the trouble to do it. I weigh 300 pounds, so Im hard on all my kit.

Hey BK,
yep thats me!! helmets very nice, look the business now (well i think i do, but probably just look stupid, but oh well, at least im safe!!)
Do you have any engineer merchents in mind? any on the internet? as i belive there a few people out there that could use this info.
There are loads of people selling new tyre/rim packages but from what i can see, its very difficult to try and find some bolts.
I have ordered some new 20mm bearing rims, but now looking for bolts is right pain in the bum!
agen, PLEASE HELP... 2 weeks and 2 days now, hands are starting to shake!!!

Brum
is full of fastener manufacturers!
Try west bromwich Fasteners or someone like FWB look in the phonebook
or even try john or dan at Powerkiteshop
Oldbury
are they M12 x 130mm if you have bought 20mm bore bearings you may need shouldered bolts or a new axle!!!
and give me some positive feedback on Ebay!
If you dont get fixed up let me know and I'll use one of my contacts

Soz BK, can never figure out how to give positive feedback, but believe me, i will try!!
I am going up to 20mm od bolts so that the increased width(therefore grip!) will not bend subsequent bolts, as buggying on grass at speed can put an
awful amount of pressure on the bolt. Thanks for the help, i will post a reply when i get a result.
Cheers

Hi there,
I once had e Lynn Bigfoot with 15 MM bolds. I can tell you that this bolds broke. The stresses on the bolds with bigfoot wheels are very high. The
frame for this buggie is not made for the forces that exist in the buggie during buggie blasts. So when you put 20 MM bolds in you can be shore that
welds are going to break. io not want to be in that buggie when this happens.
