Buggy Tyres: Wide or Standard on Grass for tricks

Hi, I have just upgraded to a flexifoil buggy with wide tyres, my old buggy is a peter lynn comp with standard tyres, I want to learn how to side wheelie and learn other new tricks, are the wide tyres going to make this harder to learn.

If the standards tyres are good for some things over the wider ones I will keep both buggies so I can swap out the tyres.

Any thoughts would be v much appreciated. Mark

I got the wide tires on my Flexi, and they work fine for me but I don't do any intended tricks. I think the wide tires offer some resistance to catching an edge while sliding in a turn on grass, but they might add some rolling resistance. All the pro buggiers use the small tires I imagine for low mass and a lower cg. How tricky are you gonna get. Oh, I just noticed this is your first post. Welcome to the forum. Have you been flying and buggying for awhile now?

Yup buggying for about 6 years on and off, started trying side wheelie but being 6'4" the peter lynn just isn.t big enough. I hope to be out in the next few days to give the new buggy a ago, might bring the old tyres to try them too. cant wait!!!

thanks for your advice! M

Do your wheels interchange? My Flexi has 12mm axle bolts and a PL I had back in the summer had 20mm bolts.

std. tires for sure ... less in degrees to hold a wheelie and to pitch out the rear for sliding

anything wide needs higher degree to find a balance point and or a certain combination pitch and weight transfer ....

just a leg over the side of the buggy reduces the ammount of pull need to bring the rear up or if you ever seen somebody have an arm reached out adds weight OR counter weight....

so to get back at the ? yes std. tires and wheels reduces all this other yada-yada talk about weight and counter wh8

Oh! and welcome to the forum
