Intermediate boarding advice sought
I have been boarding since around March, I guess, and want to start getting more advanced. It seems to me that all the people on videos that I see are
using de-power kites to get those nice airtimes... is this the case? I have only boarded with fixed bridles to this point. Is there anyone out there
that freestyles with FB's?
Basically I know how to stay on the board... go upwind... land small jumps... Thats about it. Soon, I will be living more coastal, and can really get
more into it... I am just looking for some intermediate to advanced bits of wisdom. Thanks in advance.
Things I need to work on are:
Toeside riding
Jumps
Transitions
Wheelies
and anything else you want to pass on
WHAT I FLY:
Flysurfer Soul v2 12m, Soul 15m, Soul v2 21m

TOESIDE time more the better
(down or up) loop turns from toeside ...board turn rate is the secret, get around and put the kite in the power zone commit to acceleration/power.
loop turn TO toeside, keep working the rig stay on your line feed power, roll out get comfortable.... LOOK where you are going, get a little lift
for a hop and switch back to heelside make it quick! don't fart around. balance through the rig
try this going back and forth.. going faster isn't needed with good power, i focus on trying to keep the board flat, the more you lean back the
board will go some what vertical and makes more of an axle pivot (which is cool for slow but a bit slammy for my size)
(transitions)sliding power... absolute nature of the beast gotta have this down, any direction full throttle... get down closer to the board if you
pulled over alot....this is about power management NOT speed ( yes there are some fast/quick moments but thats why you doing ,right?)
jumps ...2 choices
fast with smaller kite
OR
big kite plenty power
(jumps)big ones are just like small ones... the secret, be patient in flight and FLY THE KITE.
really knowing your kites behavior in flight is a must. if it ain't floaty and you don't fly it out YOU WILL BE THUMPED.
wheelies need good power like switch move( balance to the rear foot raising the front balancing through the stable kite) can be squirrelly. really
haven't much time on this move.
and of course rinse and repeat
pads and stuff are essential

You know - the DVD I just scored is pretty detailed in all things kite trick related. You should see if you can get your hands on a copy - Power
Kiting How To Guide. I got mine from powerkiteshop in the UK - arrived in 3 days or something ridiculous like that.
