It sounds like you are very new to this ?
You can power kite on land but I think you are wanting to move straight to the water ? " off shore "
This is a good place to start but the majority of Nor. Cal folks on here are more land based. I'm sure there is a good forum for local kitesurf info
in the San Fran area , I just don't know the site ? I'm SURE lessons can be had in the area !!!!
Going straight from flying a trianer to the the ocean with only videos as a guide is a very bad idea !
Head to the beach and talk to / watch the locals. No better place to start ! Getting a trainer right away is a good move and having one will open the
door to the locals knowledge !
If water is your desire then look at the HQ Scout, Apex and Aqua ! Might as well go straight to a bar !
