Where to buy gear in San Francisco?

Hi!

I'm looking for a store in San Francisco that sells kite gear. I'm looking for a training kite.

I'm also wondering if you experienced guys would recommend lessons, or could one go off shore after training at the training kite and watching videos?

And, could I train with a small kite, insted of a training kite?

Hope someone has some replys for this norwegian cow :)
Thanks!

Welcome!
Haven't been to this store myself but here is the link.
Its located on the north side of the GG bridge.

For more detailed help you might want to list your interest in water or land kiting as well as your size.
There are also some folks on this web site that sell locally in the bay area.

What are your kiting goals? Buggy, ATB, snowkiting, static flying, kiteboarding (water)?

I would say that yes you could certainly start off with a small power kite instead of one of the standard 2-line foils that are marketed as "trainers". I'd probably recommend that route in fact depending on your goals and budget.

It sounds like you are very new to this ?

You can power kite on land but I think you are wanting to move straight to the water ? " off shore "

This is a good place to start but the majority of Nor. Cal folks on here are more land based. I'm sure there is a good forum for local kitesurf info in the San Fran area , I just don't know the site ? I'm SURE lessons can be had in the area !!!!

Going straight from flying a trianer to the the ocean with only videos as a guide is a very bad idea !

Head to the beach and talk to / watch the locals. No better place to start ! Getting a trainer right away is a good move and having one will open the door to the locals knowledge !

If water is your desire then look at the HQ Scout, Apex and Aqua ! Might as well go straight to a bar !

www.kitesurfingschool.org is a good website to start and build a knowledge base !
