Access vs. Pulse

I am wondering how these two kites (Access & Pulse) compare and which might be better suited to cruising in a buggy and why....

Hi AK,

I'm sure there are a lot of people better suited than me to answer your question, but here is my .02 for what it's worth...

I have tried both on a landboard. I don't jump yet so it should be similar.

I really liked both kites. Both were very stable and the build quailty on both is outstanding!

I thought the Pulse was more stable and without a doubt had a lot more depower!

The Pulse would provide more lift but unless you redirect like crazy and yank in the bar, it shouldn't be a problem in the buggy.

Setup and pack down is faster with the Access but not by much.

Both would make great buggy engines but I would definitely go for the Pulse...if nothing else for the depower and bigger wind range!

Archkiter is moving back to depower :wee:

As you know I'm blinded by my Love for my 7m Pulse. I think the prices of the ones on here are unbeatable! The way they are built you should have it a long time.

I have flown both and both are a pretty good match to the buggy.

Access build is not near as robust. Not that Ozone doesn't make a fine kite but by design the access is lighter. I love the feel of an access when it is set at the edge and you are going. Trimming in and out on the bar gives a far more pronounced change in power.

I don't think you would be disappointed with either of these kites !

Agree with above:

I was riding Ozone Access + frenzy before I switch to Flysurfer Pulse1 2 years ago.

Ozone makes good kites, but in now way the depower is what Flysurfer is.

Pulse will provide more stability. Being closed cell will help for lulls and gusts.

At same time, Pulse aspect ratio is closer to frenzy than Access, so more performance than Access.

If your concern is lower price for Access, why not look at the new Flysurfer outlaw.

But IMO, for same cost between a brand new open cell like Outlaw versus a USED Pulse, I'd choose the closed cell, but this is just a personal preference. And it gives the possibility to use it on water...

Can you explain this?

And yes I am very tempted by the two Pulses for sale here at the moment... Partially because I'd like to give depower another try (only sold the Sabre to by a buggy) and partially because I have always been curious about Flysurfers....

Still if there weren't two Pulses on the market I'd likely be looking for an Access as the was my original "plan".

...hhhmmmmm.... I hate tough decisions! :tumble:

By nature when you are traveling and the kite is set low pulling in on the bar gives a boost in power / speed.

I found that the access had a nice pronounced feel of that power coming on and off. With the Pulse the change is more subtle :puzzled: Sorry, you just sort of have to feel it.

I think that with both the access and Pulse you should be able to re-sell at a minimal loss.

One thing I can PROMISE you! You will take to the Pulse right off! You will think the Sabre was a pig compared to it. You know I'm biased but I feel the Pulse is FAR more forgiving of mistakes. It is built way more robust and stands a far better chance of holding up for the long haul.

Besides, it will only be a fare race if You and I are on the same kite! ;) ;)

Cool- I think I get it now, at least in theory...

Seriously leaning towards the Pulse ATM
