Help Me

Hello,

My name is Mike and I’m afraid I’m a Closet Kiter. :wink2:
That’s right. I have Zero Power Kites, but 2 on order….and now I’m about to jump on a Revolution Blast. Having three kites of which the wife knows about one of them is what makes me a Closet Kiter. :piggy: I will have to hide the other two in the closet. Heck, if I get the Blast, where the heck am I going to put that big a$$ stick !! Maybe I can use it in the garage to hang power tools off of it. Do you think that will suffice? When I ‘sneak’ it out to fly, what do I do with all the power tools? At least the other two kites stuff into small little bags.

Hmmmm, the Attic is easily accessible. She won’t be up there for another year as we just put the Christmas stuff away. Maybe she won’t hear the creaking of the ceiling as I sneak across the rafters to retrieve the ‘Kite of the Day’.

Oh crap, with all this Kite buying, I don’t have money for a wind gauge. Which kite is the ‘Kite of the Day’? The nearest reading I can get online is DFW which is 40 Miles away. Not sufficient for expert kite wishers as myself. How can I take all of them so I know what to pull out when I get to the flying site? I know, I can buy one really big black bag and call it my ‘kite bag’ that I can say has only one kite in it, but it was much roomier and I don’t have to spend all the extra time folding it up into small little squares. Yeah, that’s the ticket.

Ooh…I guess flying in the backyard is out now. Why do I have to live on 15 acres! Dag Nabbit. The local park, it is out of sight…but everyone in town drives by there. A small town like this and my wife is a teacher. Someone is bound to say, ‘I thought your husband had a Orange kite, the one I saw him with was yellow’. ‘Yellow says another, I saw what looked like a big stick with two flags on it’. I am doomed.

Maybe if I give her one for her birthday, I can pretend to think that she would want one and take the beating and the yelling. That takes care of one kite, must wait until March…but I could possibly do that.

What about the other? I could wait until July and say I would like a Kite for my birthday and tell her I took the trouble of ordering it for her and here it is.

But who am I kidding? By July, I’ll have 20 more kites in the attic. Does anyone have the number Kite-aholics Anonymous? :puzzled:

Why are you hiding it? The more you hide it from her the more she's going to become suspicious about other things that don't exist- or do they. Are you using kiting to cover up other secrets in your life? Are you going to use kiting as a patsy? What are you hiding?

Don't worry once you have a buggy and enough kites she won't even notice a new one:wink2:

Keep the kites in your car/trunk. She does'nt see them, and they're always there so you won't miss any static fun if there is good wind where ever you are.

Now after 3 ORANGE KTM dirtbikes (1 MX, 1 Enduro, 1 Supermoto) ended up in the garage, I had an issue.
I told her they must be breeding.

OK, she knows. whew! No more Closet. No yelling either. Sold a RC airplane engine, so it was mostly a wash. How much other RC stuff can I sell now?

AK, we may have to have an intervention. You just fell into a tarpit, struggle is futile. Just a few questions ... Have you ever flown traction kites before? ... Did someone w/ knowledge of kiting help you decide what to get? ... What did you get?
The stick in revs, comes apart , so it will hide really well. Glad to hear you don't have to hide anymore. What ya wanna do,is get a small kite and take her out and get her hooked too. KITING CODEPENDENCY! Now that's funny. But think about it , if she's a wind junky too, who could stop you from buyin a landboard,buggy,racekite.etc... Oh yeah, you know that credit card you probably just paid down........ MAXXED OUT ON SKYCRACK!!!!! :wee::singing::wee:
welcome aboard this ship of fools...

Word of advice, when you purchase your power kites, make sure they are all the same color. Then when your wife sees one in the air and starts to question you can say "No honey, that is the same kite it is just on shorter lines so it looks 5 times as big...." Then smile and hope for a big gust so you can skud away quickly....:karate:

Just tell her a friend lent them to you. Tell her that he will be working on a ship in Alaska for the next 6 months and can't use them anyway so he lent them to you. Or if you need more time, he is in jail for the next couple of years.

or

Win it, "Wow honey, look what I won" If you need proof let me know I can send you a email notifying you that "your our grand prize winner"

or

just tell her. Ja she will scream for a bit, but it will pass. She wont want to talk to or see you for a couple of days. These you use to try out you new toy.

over time you will have enough equipment that she will not notice a couple of new kites anyways.

I've been expecting a new used kite (4th kite in a few months) to arrive for a week now and saw the mailman pull up with the box while the wife was OUT shopping.
Just as I tell the mailman "THANK GOD you came when my wife was out", SHE PULL UP!!! BUSTED!! No luck.
Got the usual "Soooo, what's in the box?"
I showed her the $150 invoice. Not too bad. Good thing it was'nt the last $500 sale.
Now that she caught me red handed. I can't even use the breeding excuse.

On the bright side, heading out to the beach today. Good 19-22mph blowing.
