PL Arc and Bow Bar?
Just curious if anyone has ever tried to fly a PL Arc kite with a 2:1 bow kite bar (with pulleys on the leaders)?
It would be nice to have the full depower range for an Arc take place with much less bar throw, but my hunch is the 2:1 bar would result in huge bar
pressure on most Arcs, and really exaggerated steering.

I use a 1:1 bar from a 2009 Naish Helix on my 12m Phantom. the additional throw is great but it seems like a pulley bar would maybe cause some
problems.
I think technically you will double the bar pressure if you add a pulley bar. not to mention ARC's already turn super fast. you might not want that
mechanical advantage.
why not just take the pulleys off and hook your lines directly onto the bar ends?

nwsurfwakeskate -
I now fly bows, and I have a PL GII 9m. The bows all have 2:1 bars.
My Arc is on a regular 4-line Airrush 45 cm bar with a custom depower line with 15-1/2" throw. The depower strap is still standard Airrush, with
about 8" throw. I also have knots on my front kite pigtails at 4" and 8" up to augment the limited strap range ( lower winds = front lines attached
closer to kite). My depower line has a Loos thimble instead of a chicken loop, and I use it with a Wichard shackle on my spreader bar to keep the bar
in really close. But even so, I'm almost hanging on by my fingertips with the bar fully out.
Hence the inquiry about using a 2:1 bar. I may just have to try it on a milder day to see what happens. As you suggest, I bet steering will be
over-reactive, and bar pressure will be high. Maybe with a very short bar, the excessive steering inputs will be mitigated. But I bet bar pressure
will still be a problem.

check your bar specs against these tolerances.............your throw looks good at 15.5 inches.......

you can do pulley bar with a stopper ball for set up cruising but if you like alot of wave action pulley stuff just crowds a simple system without
that much advantage. I've been back and forth from bow with pulleys ,w/o pulleys & pl both ways and always go to no pulleys end the end
it does work fine with pulleys though

I prefer a 2:1 pulley bar on my Cabrinha bows for cruising, mostly because it is so gusty in MN - I'll gladly trade higher bar pressure for the huge
depower range.
16" inches of depower range thru 8" of bar throw was what I was thinking if used on my GII. But as NWSwakeskate mentioned, bar pressure and turning
will be probably be exaggerated. Still need to try it...
