La Pesca

Got an email today from some of the guys in Mexico. They are planning a trip to La Pesca on the 18th or February for a couple days. Camping or hotels are available, and it is about a 4 hour drive from the southern tip of Texas.

If you love the hard pack a low tide at the beach offers... then you will love this place. A HUGE laguna that dries out, leaving a smooth hard packed area of sand. You can spot the areas that are still wet, but can buggy between the "islands"of green. Several miles wide in spots, and 20-30 miles long.

I can't make NABX as it always conflicts with quartely job requirements. So never have seen a desert dry lake... but this place offers comparable size for buggying, along with steady coastal winds. The beach is beautiful, people are friendly, hotels are on the river...

Not sure if I can make it as my house is entering the final stages of repair after hurricane Ike. But for those who are looking for an adventure and some world class buggying, this is the place.
