hey, i have been power kiting with a 3.5m flexifoil bullet with 4 lines for about 3 years now. and i have just recently brought a flexifoil flexdeck landboard as i am taking my kiting to a new level. i am also a trained kiteboarder, so i thought i would try a landbpard this time. i was just wondering with my bullet i have handles with brakes system round wrists, should i wear a harness when landboarding i was just thinking cos i have a harness for my kite surfing kite. Or can i just do land boarding on just my handles and brake straps? also is it easier to board on a bar or handles? thanx tokenbloke

I tried landboarding with handles and no harness once behind a pansh Ace 4m and i would say it is definitely a lot harder to get going.

using a strop or a bar would probably make life a lot easier when you are trying to get setup on your board.

with a strop or a bar you'll have at least one hand free to mess with foot straps and getting the board positions for you to be ready to jump on it and go.

I prefer to not be strapped in, generally speaking. I also much prefer handles, they give sooo much more control than a bar does.

Of course, it sorta depends on the conditions, and what I am doing. Inland, at the park with gusty and shifty winds, I definitely go without a strop.

At the beach, I can go either way... If I am drawing a lot of power and speed, unhooked... for cruising I like hooked in. Whetever I'm doing, I prefer handles.

This year I will be starting in with some depower kites and start working on jumps and whatnot, so I will use bars, but I like handles best for fixed bridle kites... no questions.

why dont you use your kiteboarding gear?

I'd say that handles and no harness are probably the easiest way to get going. Once you get some confidence and get comfortable on the board try out the harness so that you can ride longer without getting tired.

I don't use mine because my kiting spots are too small, and my winds are too unpredictable for me to feel comfortable with using my kitesurfing gear.

Go with what you know ! If you already are comfortable with your water kites they are probably a better choice for learning ATB than a 3.5 Bullet ! Bullets make great buggy engines because the produce good pull with minimal lift. This makes it a good high wind kite for you but not the ideal kite to learn on.

I like having a bigger kite . Kind of a sky hook to help me with balance since I'm extremely new on the board. The less you have to think about the kite the better. That allows you to think more about the board. The transition shouldn't be too bad or too long.

NOTE : you will want to go at least 1 size smaller for any given wind from what you would use on water. !!!!!!!!

P.S. I had a 4.5 and 7m Bullet. My 4.5 didn't take to a cross over bar well. Perhaps in 2 line mode but it would work ?
I find hooking in becomes more important to me the bigger the foil I fly.

I have some of the same questions. I got a Pansh Blaze 3M last year and have had a blast with it, but I am ready for something more.

It pulls really hard in the wind here and I keep thinking if I had a landboard it would be awesome/scary.

My arms do get tired by the end of the day while it is draggin me around on my butt. So my question is can I get a system that would make it easier to fly around with? ( with my current kite ) Easier on my arms and a little more cruise control than the handles? :puzzled:
