Hey there deezPANSHES I was thinking of using it to do a little boarding in the summer, I was thinking of "playing" around with some homemade buggies. And definately for boarding for next winter. Do you think this will be a good kite for me, i'm around 190 lbs. give or take. You probably dont now where Denzil is so its about 30 min. from Provost, Alberta the winds here are pretty constant at around 15-25 Kph. Would a 5m suit me here you think, I dont want to be under powered but I also dont want to be a bug on the winshield if you know what I mean.:frog::frog::frog:

What kites do you have experience with? Someone that is ready could fly a 5m Ace in your typical winds, but you need to have the proper skills developed before "jumping" to a kite with that personality. You can put your kites in your signature in "control panel" and "edit profile" so we can see what you have. How long have you been kiting and what are you flying now?

from what i've read and experienced:
Aces don't really turn quickly (compared with other med-high AR kites) which is fine if your in a park(the kite in the wind not having to work it or turn it) and ride (good long stretch at a time) situation. 25kp/h and the 5m Ace will be a real handfull unless you have loads of runway and stropped (good buggy situation). i would not recommend static in that wind. experience is key.
DZpansh and I tried stropping w/buggy and 6 and 8 meter Ace at the end of last fall and it was great.

You need to look at a depower kite to cover the winds you describe.

Notice he is talking kph. That is about 9-15 mph. Perfect for a 5m in the right hands.

OOPS!

Funny how I live in a KM country but still think in MPH on here!

Like folks mentioned. This is not a good 1st kite but it is a good match for those winds. From my experience with prarrie winds you do want to look at depower at some point so you can handle the gusts a bit more safely.

I have a 3m Legend that I have been flying for just a few months now "will try to put it on my sig. BeamerBob" have been doing mostly static flying but have been getting pulled around more and more on the kids sleds and some snow ski sessions as well, now that I am getting used to controlling the kite. Also thought I would mention that I might be abit high with 25 kph on our average wind speed, but thought it is better to be prepared for higher winds to be on the safe side.

if you can manage a 3m (any fixed bridal kite) to pull you around then i'm thinS-P-A-M-L-I-N-K-n a 5m will be fine. 5m should pull you around requiring less working/milking the kite (in right wind). 5m will of of course tug harder and wear out forearms.

My vote is for the 5m Ace. I personally think the perfect way to grow in kiting experience is first 3m fixed, then 5m ace :D Love that kite....

soccerflyer, i hope you enjoy your new ace 5m you will notice a considerable difference between the blaze 3 and the ace 5m I just picked up an ace8m, couldn't beat the deal only flown three times by the previous owner. I am going to put it up tomorrow for the first time. Good luck with yours.
