That unit looks like it has a fairly high center of gravity. Most recumbent trikes are tadpole ( 1 rear wheel, 2 front) rather than delta (1 front, 2 back) to keep the CoG low and lots of weight on the steering wheels.
Mike Burrows' Wind Cheetah trike, designed in the 80s, was doing over 60 mph on a regular basis. In 2002 Sam Whittingham of Victoria BC did over 81 mph on a Varna Diablo recumbent bike. Sam's speed was measured using a police radar gun. The Diablo was built on Gabriola Island, about 30 miles from Vancouver, by George Georgiov. You should contact him if you are looking for a high speed trike.
S

Correction Battle Mountain now uses a 200 m trap for speed measurement. as of Sptember 2008 Sam's record is 82.3 mph
Has anyone gone faster than this in a buggy?

Is it possible to design for strength, if the designer doesn't really understand what strength is?
