Hi, a few weeks ago I snapped the chicken finger off the chicken loop of my flysurfer (gets a little brittle in the cold up here in Canada). Is there any place I can buy a replacement? The only places I've found are in Australia or way to expensive to ship what should be a cheap part. Something like this (which I could attach to my chicken loop):

I had basically the same problem and found the same site, but blake suggested that I use a zip tie on the spreader bar and point it forward through the loop. Works like a charm I can take pic tomorrow and post.

I snapped mine and fixed it up lickety split with some duct tape - works better than it did before.

I had same problem. I have been using this one which attaches to the spreader bar and it has been sturdy, and the loop falls off less when going toeside. Cheep and effective.

Yeah, I saw that one, and it's exactly what I need. But they want $30 US to ship it to Canada, plus the cost of the part. A little steep for a $7.50 part! Guess I'll have to try the duct tape.

ahh nice thread...i replaced whole chickenloop assembly. probably going to get another busted bone sooner or later. according to local dealer it's the newer FS's that use different plastic.?? maybe FS should look at this situation

I have had the same problem with many Flysurfers during winter.

I now use the Ozone chicken bone onto my Harness, even if all my chicken loops are OK because now I only have Infinity bars except for my speed2 19.

I got my first Ozone bone given to me by a PKF friend. It works like a charm. I like it so much that I wanted to have another one for spare.

I found out that a QC local shop (www.30noeuds.com) sells them for 15$, so that means that the Ozone Canadian distributor has them. I dont know if you have an Ozone shop nearby but you should check with any Canadian Ozone resellers to find out. I dont know who is the Ozone Canadian distributor but should be easy to find.

Or for 10 cents Not my harness, but the jist none the less.

Wow, I'm surprised lot's of people have had this problem. My chicken loop setup didn't come with the bone, so I made my own using nylon rope and vinyl tubing. Just double up the rope so it's nice and snug inside the tube and tie it off with a knot at the end.

That is exactly what I was going to suggest, though the zip tie idea is even quicker and cheaper.

The only pressure on the chicken finger is the slack weight of the chicken loop, so you don't really need much to keep it on since the chick loop is a just a few ounces. Other chicken loops are just rope with a firm covering, like plastic, to make them more rigid so they don't "flop out" of the spreader. The zip tie that I have on my harness is longer by a few inches and I used a heavy duty variety, so there's no way the chicken loop will fall out. I'll post a pic tonight.

I didn't clip the zip tie short, haven't had any problems with pressure enough to flip the tie out, and the zip tie head hits the spreader bar such that the zip tie can't come out of the loop w/o a decent force.
