Good choice! I loved my beamer 3. It's a great stable kite with a great amount of pull! You would eventually be able to use it as
your high winds kite too .
Kites:PL Hornet 2.0m, 15m Synergy
Dakine Pyro Harness
Rides: MBS Comp 16 Pro, Sector9 Longboard, Forum Snowboard
And always a helmet

+1 for Beamer III
This was my first kite as well and I'm very happy this is where I started.
The 3m is a great size for a wide range of conditions. Has nice pull and good stability. Plus it comes with absolutely everything you need to fly
including kite killers and a stake.
I liked it so much I picked up a 1.4m for the super high wind days I get around here and it is loads of fun (with enough wind).
The only problem is you may come down with a sever case of KBA (Kite Buying Addiction) so watch out for that.
