newbie with HQ Beamer3 4m

Hello,I like to introduce myself to this wonderful forum and members. I bought Scrub Photon & HQ Beamer3 4m Powerkite & Kiteboard Package. I'm totally new to this and looks really good fun. Have you any tips for me for starting to jump?

Hey there!
There are vids on YouTube etc that 'teach' you how to jump, show you what to do with the kite etc ... watch a few of them, then pick someones brains at your flying site (if you can) and wear a helmet :D

Yeah... I got a kite. Or two...

They look like they come from a toy company ?

Most quality kite builders also make other kites + gliders. I think the quality may be lacking in these ones?

You get what you pay for in this sport. If you are going to put your life on the line jumping and such I suggest a different brand may be safer .

The 100KG TWINE alone scares me !

Kites: 2.5m Profoil , Quadrifoil XL kitesurfer, NPW 5 Danger.
Flexifoil: 1.7m Sting, 4.9m Blade 3, 9m Blade 2.
Flysurfer : 19m Speed 2 SA, 7m Pulse
Peter Lynn :18m Phantom, 15m Synergy, 10m Synergy, 1200 Farc, 460 Sarc, 130 Tarc, 5m Peel, 4.2m , 6.4, 8.5 C-Quads, 3.5 LS2 single skin.

Rides: Flexi / P.L. Frankin'Buggy , Shaped + straight skiis, sand skis, Coyote blades. Core 95 ATB. RKB R2 ATB .

I would put my money into something else.
That model looks odd ? Like an arc without the spars or something ?

It doesn't have to be Flexifoil but I doubt anyone can comment on this kite because it would have been an uninformed individual that bought it in the 1st place. Not someone that shares on these forums.

Buy a better quality used kite if cash is the issue!

 THOSE KIDS ARE IDIOTS

This sport is in big trouble these days thanks to people like that !:piggy:

They are flying a crappy 2 line kite and are trying to kill themselves ! They are killing the sport at the same time ! :flaming:

Do us all favour and re-think how you are going about this !

Starting with PADS

Why are you asking us about this kite when you have gone and bought it already ? TOO LATE !

Looks like a flexi foil stacker copy to me.

Probably not the best kite but if your just learning on it your probably ok.

As far as jumping, This IS NOT something you want to try right from the get go. For some reason no one on this form seems to stress this fact. You want to learn to fly the kite first. You want to go out in light winds untill you are confident in your kite control. Things can go bad real fast in high winds.

IM not a big fan of kite jumping, its an easy way to get hurt, but now with more land kiting IE snowkiting, buggie, landboarding, i guess its more accepted.

You deffinately will want a better kite for this. No sence skimping on something thats holding you 10ft up. Pads are a great idea also.

Just remember the ground is very unforgiving, getting slammed down and ending up in the hospital is no fun. Personally i wouldnt reccomend it unless your an advanced kiter. If you are going to do it, do yourself a favor, get the right gear and protection.

yep that's a pretty good package, I believe the board is OK, but I don't know much about the board side of kitestuff. The kite is a good, if smallish (slightly -- in 20mph plus it will be plenty strong ie possibly dangerous) one to start on. 3m is better and extends the low side of your flyable winds quite a bit, a 4m is better but then you start needing one for stronger winds.

snobdr is right, you need to learn on smaller kites before jumping the big ones. You need the skills first, and you need to learn them on a safe kite -- 2 to 4 m is size, 3 is best. 4 meters and above is the size that will allow you to jump safely given good wind and ground.

don't be in a rush to jump, just flying the things will be fun enough for now. When you get to the point where you start feeling enough power to jump with while still in good control of the kite (fast scuds), that's when to carefully come back to jumping.

have fun, that's the main thing -- injuries really get in the way of that, it's best to take it a little slow and keep injury-free, a bad one can hold you back many months!

fixed bridles, flying static, been two years now... ??? folks must be wondering....

sting 1.7, dp power 2.5, crossfire 3.2, ace 5, blade iv 6.5, ace 8, ace 12...

also a couple of arcs, 12 syn and 12 phanny, but i\'m not yet up to speed on them.

The HQ Beamer series is a great learning kite, but not something you want to be jumping with. I would suggest you start with just flying the kite. Try to hook up with some local people in your area who fly and get pointers from them. The best thing you can do, is find someone local who flies in your area, and hook up with them. Best of luck to you.
