Question for you Louisianna folk.

I'm heading to Alexandria, LA on the 27th of July and will be there until the 7th of August. I've only got the weekend between those dates to myself. Is it worth bringing a kite or two and a kiteboard? I was looking at the wind history on ikite last summer and it didn't look too promising. Also, what beaches should I look at going to if I do decide to bring my gear? I figure I'll be about two and a half to three hours away from the coast.
