Hello, I am stepping up from a 2.5 to one of the twisters. I weigh about 240 and am looking for a kite for landboarding and mild static jumps. I live in Missouri and there are frequent gusts with any decent wind. I was told to get a 2.5 before I got a bigger kite. I am now used to it and ready for the big league.

The wind is also very mild in the summer and I was hoping to fly. Would either kite be good for the mild wind. would the 7.7 be better?

any suggestions, pros/cons

Based on the Twister II 5.6m or 7.7m and which one to get...

5.6m
Pros; static its perfect for your next step from the 2.5m in low to higher winds and a good engine for landboarding and jumps in apx 12mph winds and up...
Cons; based on a 240 frame this will be a lil shy on power for light wind jumps and landboarding...

7.7m
Pros; massive power in light winds and could get you going on a landboard in light winds, easily... Fantastic jump kite in 10-14mph for your 240 frame...
Cons; awfully big jump from the 2.5m, slightly slow turning in light winds to do static jumps, but possible... wind range is going to be very narrow until you can man handle this beast which might take a while jumping from a 2.5m to this bad boy...

I have a 7.7m Twister II and I can tell you that the 7.7m is a fantastic jump kite and handles very well for the size, I weigh 195 and have been flying for 7+ years and this is a lot of kite, in lighter winds it needs break input for turning but as the wind picks up it responds very well without the break input for turning... These kites fly far into the window and that's great for moving/motion (landboard, buggy)...

My recommendation based on all your variables would be the 5.6m, I think you would be well powered most of the time and you'd be able to get fantastic jumps with decent winds, you'll be surprised the power this kite will provide... The 5.6m is better as an all around kite and could be used in more conditions...

I'd go Twister II 7.7m, and you can use it either on Handles or Bar (non depower), when Gunnar gets done, there will be a mod for Depower.
i'm a light asian guy (pkf - dutch joke) and use mine with a mtn board ... and its my high wind engine.

7.7m is sort of the ideal LOW WIND kite for a light Asian guy ?
Are you sure you read this right Rip' ?

I have to agree with Screwy. The 5.6 will allow you the widest of wind ranges. The 7.7 will be too much before your 2.5 kicks in.

I haven't flown the Twister II but I went from a 3m beamer to the 5m ace and I weigh 185. I agree with the above statement, it will give you more opportunity to fly because it has a larger wind range. It's like, you noticing you need more pull and instead of taking it to the next level, you skip a step and go to the 3rd level. The usual would be to just take it to the next level :wee:

its hard to tell someone what size would be best, not having seen the person fly first.

if youre going to only static jump than i would agree with everyone on the 5.6m ... however if you're going to move over to something to sit / stand on its too small.

dudes like 240, im like 110 (WET - Mr.108.2) ... sure experience plays a big part too. but so does using your head and deciding when and when not to wind different wind conditions.

you take riding buddy like Dirtslide who rides a Butan 7.8 on Handles 100% of the time on a mtn, ill pick up the same kite in the same condition.

7m for the little asian guy. hehehehe. ROFL. :tumble:

ive got the 5.6 and ive got no complaints... here in Ne. the winds are kinda gusty too. But im about the same weight as you and this kite drags me around dry grass fields w/ no wheels. I think anything bigger wouldnt get the same amount of use out of it that the 5.6 would get. 2m to 7m are two extremes, id go 5.6 if i were in your shoes

I have to disagree. A 7.7 Meter kite is NOT and I repeat NOT a high wind engine. I weigh 240 and my high wind engine is a 2.0 meter Flow!!! And that doesn't matter if I am riding my board or in my buggy!!!

Taking a 7.7 meter Twister out in high winds will just get you injured and is not recommended at all by pretty much anyone that has experience.

you dont get high winds like LV. you have E-X-T-R-E-M-E wind. hehehe.

maybe we should base Low / Medium / High / Extreme winds.

I've ridden a 7m in (30km - 18mph - 16 knots) ... mind you i wanted big air.

this isnt about me ... so we agree that 5.6m would be the choose for the fellow here. :saint:
