Hey Guys I just got my Patrol 106 and after assembling it I was standing on it in the living room and it was pretty much bottomed out! I'm a big guy at about 215, but I was pretty surprised at how flimsy it seemed! I had my GF try to stand on it and without much movement she was putting the deck on the floor as well. And she's about 125!

So, not having ANY experience with landboards, what am I missing? I'm pretty sure it must be me or my assembly but something sure seems awry. Any thoughts?

Sounds like something is definately wrong, GI decks are pretty stiif. Unless its an AK deck. I rode one of those years ago and at 145#s I could flex the heck out of that so I'm assuming if you've got an AK deck and you're 215 that could be one issue. As stated though, pics would help.

The board is pretty flexible, but the tires ship flat, so if you stood on it without inflating the tires it's probably hitting the floor and you may not have noticed the tires.

I had one, I'm 6'3" 275# (hence the name) and it flexed but I had no problem using it. It was still a few inches off the ground.

Make sure your trucks are on right too. The shop that built mine put the trucks on backwards. The GI logo should be facing out placing the axel closest to the middle of the board (not the tips of the board).

OK, here's a couple of pics. The axle is mounted properly, I think, and the tires are fully inflated. Just standing on it I'm about 1/2 an inch from the floor.

To add insult to injury, I was out buggying today and a guy had an MBS 95 out there and it was stiff as hell. Grrr.

yea don' put the trucks on backwards
like I did with my first GI
It took me a while to realise that
cuz @ 160 lbs I couldn't bottom the patrol
out And I had those 12 inch tires on it too,
they look sort of funny to an ignorant eye
when on correctly.

ok you got the trucks, (axles) on right

mebbe you got a dud for a deck

GI was always good 2 me for warrantee.

Just for giggles, could you measure the clearance with nobody on the deck?

I weigh in at around 180 lbs.

Unladen, the AK 103 Bionic board has a whisker over 5 inches of clearance. With me on it, the clearance is right about at 5 inches.

The AK deck is an all maple while the Patrol deck is layers of maple & fiberglass, which should be stiffer.

I will get the Patrol Board out later and take clearance measurements with and without me on it. If nothing else, it confuses/amuses the wee ones...

That is clearly not right. The deck is not sagging its like the trucks are rolling forward allowing you to bottom out. While it looks set up correctly, I'm thinking something is wrong somewhere as the deck should sag in the middle, but the trucks and wheels should not push forward like that.

Eli, if you know the issue, I'd like to hear it as that is a crazy side effect to whatever is the issue.

nope, just sent a u2u, the manufacturer will want to inspect it.

I have the patrol, I slam it from 20 + ft high jumps, it is an amazing deck, that one IF SET UP CORRECTLY AND HE ISN'T HOLDING A SMALL COW, isn't working properly.

Lol... saving the cow stunts for later. Like I said... no experience at all with boards, but it seems pretty straightforward. The wheels don't move or slide out, the deck just flexes like all getout. Thanks for the contact, Eli. I'm not ruling out the possibility that I'm an idiot and missing something simple.

I'd say it's missing a ply or the F-glass layer under your feet. First time I've heard of that.

If you need me to pick up the service I can handle it for you. I'd say get it taken apart, so you can ship the deck off. There is a warranty form on Gi website!

Just spoke with Matt Barker at GI. Apparently my deck is a bit thinner than it should be. It's right at one cm. So guessing Eli nailed it... possibly missing a ply.

I'll let you know when the new deck gets here.

GI is awesome, Matt is a great guy. They stand behind their product and I was sure that once you got in touch with them that they would take care of you just fine.

Let us know how the new replacement deck turns out for you.
