kite repair??? line and blown out cell

I have a 2.5m HQ rush and hit the ground with the leading edge down in 20mph winds and blew out a cell. the cell burst at the seam and is a clean rip. Is this repairable? any suggestions on how to repair and what to use?

I kept flying after the cell burst and then broke the line where it connects to the handle. How do you tie the line together so it doesn't come apart?

Thanks for all the help and support.

Contact Jeff (Howard) or one of his cohorts at www.fixmykite.com

For the latter, it sounds like you need to re-sleeve your line. Instructions can be found here:
http://www.thegreedybrain.com/StuntKiteTips/sleeve.htm

To equalize the lines, you can undo the sleeve on the unbroken line, trim it, and then re-sleeve it (too) so that both lines are equal.

If you just want to re-sleeve the broken line and don't want to mess with the intact line (and don't expect to be switching handles), you can just add adjustment knots to the leader line on the handles. This is kind of hard to explain without pictures, so take a look here:
http://www.cobrakite.com/tigertip.html#Tgr%20Fly%20Line%20Ad...
(scroll back and read from the beginning of the section labelled "Control Problems")

The instructions are for SkyTiger handles, but also applies for your Rush or just about any other quad line.

Hope that helps.

All the best,
Sam

I can vouch for the guys at fixmykite (prokitesurf). I had them do a major repair and had to look for thread color and different types of stitching to find the repair. I don't think a better job could've been done and they guarantee the repairs for the life of the kite.

i have seen and flown bob's phantom the repairs are very nice

even the custom configuration is nice with the zip

totally jealous of this near virginal rig

my rigs get the needle and floss treatment and then "BACK TO WORK"no rest for the freshly tattered

Thanks, Phree. I hold your opinion very high since you have a few hours on these arcs. I was grateful that you "laid hands" on the phantom to make sure all was good with the kite and bar setup. I made the change you recommended on the front line connection. Came out perfect.

Jeff at fixmykite said he has actually had customers call after their "repaired" kite arrived to question whether they sent the right kite back. They were actually unable to find where a repair had been made. Only after Jeff would describe the stitching that he did and how it was different than the factory stitching, would the customer believe that they had indeed received a repaired kite. Pretty good work.

I know of a couple manufacturers that also utilize Jeff's repair facility to do their own factory authorized repairs. He is one of the best (and I have found that list to be very short). Very fast turn around time, excellent and guaranteed repairs....can't go wrong.

Oh, and for the price, you won't find a better deal unless your mother happens to be a professional seamstress and is use to stitching different types of ripstop nylon and is willing to do it for free. :)

For major and technical repairs, we also use Fixmykite.com

It should be a really easy kite repair, its always best to stop flying immediately if its broken as the stress and strains will only make the repair bigger.

Even the biggest repairs are fairly easy with any kite and they usually fly just as well post accident if its a good kite repair
