Gotta jump in on this one. I bought the 'toy' model on clearance at the local "Wally world" for about $25.00. I had it with me for a river session last winter on the St. Lawrence. (Chaumont Bay) It was toward the end of the season, the snow had melted, and refrozen, and my snowboard skills are not good enough to let me ride these conditions, but I sat sideways on the railz snowskate, balancing with my feet, and launched the 3.5M Imp in a steady15MPH wind and was able to hold a half-wind course out about a quarter mile, and back, in about 30 or 40 seconds! One heck of a core workout, but a blast. Ride ended when I hit a rough patch and was lifted off the board, and slid along on my ski pants! I thought of adding metal edges to the skis, but it looks like they already did with the sporting good model. Will probably take it with on future river sessions just for fun! And for when it's so icy I can't hold an edge. Funny thing is I watched a guy ride a snowboard that day, and made it look like a single edge ice skate! Now that's riding!
[edit] not sure if it would work in sand, and tried standing on it in packed snow on a hill, and found control a little lacking.

Bob - if you're snowboarding properly (carving turns not sliding) you can ride any condition ... there's a website or youtube around called "extreme carving" or something - the techniques they show on the page kick ass! Made a huge difference, almost immediately to my boarding ... I still land on my head if I try to jump though
Here it is ... they work on regular boards too
http://www.extremecarving.com/tech/tech.html

That board thing may work in sand ... for $60 buy it and try it :frog:

Yeah... I got a kite. Or two...
