New feature - Flysurfer auto unhook?

So, I picked up a Psycho 3 a while back and have now had it out three times in light winds to get a feel for it. On two of those occasions the winds picked up (localized thermal) and the kite powered up and peeled right out of my hands and off my harness going to the FDS line. Thing is it was hooked in and had the dongle slipped in properly :puzzled: I get back to the bar and the chickenloop release is still fully intact (loaded).

Is there some over-power auto unhook built into the FS chickenloop assembly that I don't know about or is something hooked up wrong?

I've had that happen to me too. What I've noticed is during the launch sometimes the chicken loop will work it's way partially off the harness...only hanging on to half the hook. Now, after the kite is in the air I always make sure the chicken loop is fully engaged on the harness. Does that make sense? When I get a chance I'll post a picture of what I'm talking about.

sounds like something is askew.... once you hook in and place the DD.... that should lock it in pretty well.... the only times i've had the CH loop get loose was when riding toe side a bunch and not paying attention to the loop.

like clint said... sometimes a CH loop will get loose and fall out of the spreader hook.... Mystic harnesses have a spreader hook which is more "open" and therefore easier to unhook and/or fall out.

so to answer your question... NO... flysurfers do not have an auto-unhook 'feature' . double check the assembly of the CH loop relative to the manual.

also-**iirc**
some guys (water guys, me thinks) use a larger CL to unhook (handle pass) quicker/easier. my 17m Sp had a big CL but PZ(john) changed it back to OEM before I got it.
i believe the FS manual shows two ways of re-hooking(closing loop) CL. one for water (easier unhooking i think) and one for regular use.
iirc-you use the smaller diameter white cord in conjunction with the larger blue cord to hook-up one way and simply use the blue cord for the other. can't recall which was for which:barf:
BTW-same exact thing happened to me in some really good #@%$#! with my 7.5 Frenzy. too much for 12m so i unroll Frenzy. right off the hot launch, what the heck? what happened? what broke? how'd that happen?
i had the CL closed wrong. it took a minute to figure it out but after t'was all good:wee:
