Too much sun!

Just finished unpacking from a quick day trip to Jekyll. Brought my family including the dog, bike, tent, etc. Lots of stuff and it was scorching hot. I cannot believe it but after searching everywhere I'm now pretty certain that I left my mountain board down by the water. Too much sun baked my brain. I've called every person that could possibly help me recover it but we left at low tide and it's fate is uncertain. Angus is combing the beach for me but it doesn't look good. Does anyone know if mountain boards float?

Feeling like an idiot.

Greg

I would think they would float. I think the air in the tires would be enough to keep it afloat. Your misfortune just made me think of something that I'm going to do right now ... did you happen to have your name and number on your board somewhere?

No name...I can probably get the serial number from MBS. Angus struck out looking for it at the beach. There was a huge tide. I'm hoping the beach authority picked it up. They have my name and number. Next board will get the etched name and phone number. Kicking myself all over again...getting a little sore.

and yes they float wood deck +tires probably around jacksonville maybe St. Mary's now

total bummer

Waiting from the word from Jekyll Island Authority. When the truck is back at the depot, I 'll go pick it up. The JIA have been real sports about this.

Hopefully the bearings are not shot but I that is something that can be fixed cheaper than a new board!

The bearings are stainless and I coated them in White Lightening so they should be good. Give her a good hosing down for me when you get her home if you don't mind. I REALLY appreciate all the help and the Jekyll Island Beach Authority rocks! I guess the sanitation department picked it up.

Glad you got it back!
Whoever picked it up probably thought "Some poor little kid has lost his funny-looking skateboard - I better hand it in or the wee tyke will be heart-broken"

Bad news. The board is still MIA. Some other piece of floatsum was misidentified, misreported and now it's just plain missed. Doggone it!

Angus is going to make another sweep of the beach and ask around at Blackbeards but I'm feeling pretty demoralized. I was thinking about how the wheels would get sorta dug in when the wave wash would come up around the tires when it was standing still. Kinda like it does around your bare feet when you stand still in the wave wash. Not good. That sucker is either buried in sand, washed out to sea or someone's new toy they found at the beach.

Now I really have to sell my Blade and some other stuff. Look for a price reduction and yard sail soon!

It's killing me, just killing me. I'm gonna give it a couple of days to resurface. If it doesn't show up, I'll have to bite the bullet and reinvest. The Pro 90 rocks and I don't know if I'll be happy with anything else.

That is what I was thinking Angus. I left it to the right of the sandbar if you're facing the water and it seems like the little channel in front of the sand bar sweeps to the left/north. Good luck and thanks again!

Do you think putting up a sign would help?
