Longer Lines pros and cons

Hi everyone. Can anyone tell me the pros and cons of longer flying lines. I have been flying for about a month now, i have a 2.0m Beamer and a 4.0m Crossfire 2, they are both supplied with 20m lines. I use my kites for scudding and eventually ATBs.

Thanks

Longer lines make the window bigger, and the power zone bigger. The downfall is the kite responds slower, and takes more bar movement to turn because of extra slack in the lines.

can be an advantage if you fly inland as you can get above the turbulant air but as snob has said it does slow your kite down .

One of my big lessons this NABX was how great 15m ( very short ) lines are in ultra high winds.
The Dutch Boys are all very proud to have short ones ! :P

With the short lines your kite gets to the edge faster.

Going short seemed more worth while. More effective than going long to try and get something out of low wind.

Using short lines on nasa wings you are able to buggy in parking lots with light poles or other obstacles. I do it all the time. You can also buggy under bridges. Ask AJ.

i notice when static jump with longer lines my jumps are much higher...although it turns slower, the kite has more distance to build speed during a redirect...thus more pop once the lines snag your body up.
