and you're accusing me of being creative, but your not bad yourself..!!:D:D
nice contruction.
probably a higher quality camera than i'm using..
and i guessing more of a fish-eye lens with wider angle
how do you post these picture's full size?
when i post pictures you need to click on them to see them like yours..
edit: you're using a site for hosting. but do they remove the pics after a while?
question: how much ground clearence do you have under your seat?
Creative? Not sure about that. In this case, necessity was the mother of invention, or I'm just a cheapskate. :D
Yeah the camera has options within it's menu for, Narrow, Linear, Wide and Max Super View. I choose the "Max Super View or Go Home" option because you
can get everything in the frame and to me it seems to portray the most realistic real world preferential vision, as you would experience it.
Not sure why the pictures are full size on the forum. I guess the hosting site creates a link with the default size but you can alter the size of any
picture on PKF using the follow syntax -

The hosting site I use is ImgBB https://imgbb.com/ and you can choose whether to automatically remove your pictures after a set time or not.
The buggy has a lot of ground clearance. Its all terrain baby! :D
Ah, you got the resizing to work. Nice.
If you like the water, how about a catamaran for your next project. I have a kite-cat, only used it a few times but I found that under power it could
occasionally lift a hull with the risk of throwing me out.
A crab-cat would solve this issue i think. All your weight on one hull. You could hold a lot of power!
Just a thought.

my brain is allready max filled with all kind of idea's regarding to kiting..
if only i had the time and space to store all that's inside my head..
:D:D
Had a good kite day yesterday. Took out the 5.3 in 16mph winds on offroad blades so I was having a blast. Surprised that I was only a bit overpowered,
and that it was not gusty like it was forecast to be. Jumping non-static is insane!

Today I rode my 9m A15 for 30min then my 8m Genesis for 30min, interesting to ride similar kites back to back. Was on a Haize landboard, blowing
15mph gusting 20+ with some 10mph lulls. Had to stop a couple times and both kites in gusts lifted my 200#s off the ground.
I've modified both kites with the "Jackomixer" modification that has the steering lines connected to C-Lines and Z's get pulled half of C. This
greatly improves turning and quickens depower. I've flown both kites on 15m, 21m, and 30m lines and like the 21m length the best because 15m lines
are not long enough to get smooth winds and 30m lines don't add much to these slow moving low AR, park-n-ride type kites. The 30m lines slow the
reaction time of the kites and I like direct handling when on a landboard.
I also have a 6m Genesis but found this kite does not have enough power parked and on a landboard in grass it is too on/off when working the kite in
gusty conditons. Seems to work on a foilboard for some in high winds which I assume are winds/pulling above safe landboarding for me.
What I found was once moving they were similar feeling but the 9m A15 has more range to pull harder/sheeted-in or softer/sheeted-out, it flies further
in the window to the edge. It went upwind better too as expected. The 8m Genesis turns quicker and oddly smooths gusts out better because it only
flys a little further or back in the window. The Genesis was easier to start and stop with, was more relaxing and more fun because I could focus on
board direction/carving more.
I think a 10m Genesis would have been too much and I have other kites for when the wind is less & smoother. I have an 8m AuroraII that I've set
up on 30m lines and have ridden on the same landboard, same location, in winds even lower than 10mph. That kite would have been a challenge just to
fly static today in gusts 20+. With higher AR Aurora on a landboard the apparent wind leverage/boost is quite a bit more but you need more room/time
to build up speed and stop.
If you have kites that overlap in windrange, it's fun to ride each on the same lines in the same conditions, back to back to compare. Today the
cheaper simpler kite won the contest. Hope to compare them on a hydrofoil someday to see which one wins out.
Today I rode my kite buggy at my lakeside spot. This is the place I mentioned recently because a bunch of trees were cut down, improving my
"dragstip." I've ridden there a few times already this year, but the sessions short. I was worried the park wouldn't be open - it had been closed
"indefinitely" due to fallen trees from Hurricane Zeta. As luck would have it, indefinitely wasn't very long and it was opened by Saturday last week.
So I did some longer than normal runs mainly with my NS2 7.0. However, the best part of the day was I was able to ride on the beach as well. I had
been worried that with the water very high, it would not be possible to ride on the beach - but just the opposite - seemed better than ever. Be
interesting to see what happens - the lake level is now above "full pool" so they are dropping it. Every time it drops the "line changes." Picture
belows my track today. On the North end of the pavement - all those trees are gone so I can ride there. The only tree left is the one east of the
curve in the pavement. Zeta let me down..... Also, the water is higher than shown in the picture - I was riding right next to the water line.
My best speed at the spot was 20 mph with a 3.2 M NPW last year. I think it should be possible to beat that now that I have a longer runway. I've
got plenty of footage, but haven't processed it yet.
This video is short. Just me out riding while testing my new storm kite, a secondhand eBay special, a barely used 5m Cabrinha SwitchBlade.
I have been wanting one for years but they've always been too expensive for me new and I have never known them to come up for sale second-hand in this
size, until now.
To be honest, this video is not worth watching expect maybe for the squall at the beginning which i found interesting.
No speed run as the wind died down after the squall to about 24 - 27 knots with a direction change to cross-cross-on which meant I was buggying almost
directly downwind with the kite underpowered and stalling at times. Top speed 53 mph, footage not included because wet sand obscured the lens.
This new kite is to replace my 7m Hydra that i used to achieve my PB in August last year. ( wind 45 knots gusting 57 knots ).
So this new 5m has a lot of potential and should be more efficient through the air allowing for an improved top speed by delaying the onset of being
pulled downwind towards the end of the run, not to mention much safer in those winds, but there is one small catch, it's probably all BS. It does not
have the acceleration of a 7m and will therefore require more space on the beach which I do not have. :D
I'm loving this new kite. She reminds me of her older brother, the Cabrinha Crossbow. That kite gave me my previous PB 9 years ago. The SwitchBlade
like the xbow gives a lot of confidence for its tame nature and the bar pressure is much reduced when compared to the Genetrix Hydra which should help
save my arms on multiple runs.
Now for this national lockdown here to end and the winter storms to begin.
What happened to your Jack O' Lantern? Seemed like a good video.
Were you responding to me Randy? Look forward to your footage.
For some reason your post came up blank. Glad to see it is back. Could have been a problem on my end. Looks like it was just a bit windy.
I'm still working on my vid. Yesterday, I gave my first kite buggy riding lesson - to my wife. The good news - we are still married. Bad news,
probably I won't need to be getting a new buggy any time soon. But she did at least get to have a kite powered ride, albeit a short (but safe) one.
Curiosity satisfied though.
No the problem was mine Randy. I was editing and translating the text from dyslexia into english, both here and extreme kites, copying back and forth.
Copying text from extreme kites and then posting it here results in a blank post. At least you now have a fond memory of your wife trying the buggy.
Hope you got this once in a lifetime event recorded on film. :D
on the unfortunate first anniversary of my younger brother's death, we had a family fly with his wife, his daughter and her 4 girls, his son with his
2 girls, his son and wife with no kids, and me, briefly. it was grand. truly grand.
later, at my high school practice, i put up my absolute favorite kite, a 2.5 bullet on 30m lines. (signed by my brother before his death) in his
honor. 2 of my high school girls also flew it, which really added to the importance for me.
tom
tomdiving - nice to hear you were able to have a nice way to remember your brother.
jantie - the kite in the video is a homebrew "inspired" by the Paraski Flex which I used some with my kite buggy. It is mainly used for snow kiting
in Canada. I happened to find one on ebay.
After a while I decided to try to make one for use in my parking lot space, so I built a 3m. It was a bit too small, so I came up with a simplified
4m design with a simple round canopy and fewer bridles. I made a 6.2 last year, but haven't been able to use it much. I made try the big Paraski on
my beach spot when the 7m Nasa is not big enough. The Paraski type kites have a better wind window and are probably the easiest power kite to fly
because it uses a simple bar that makes steer like a steering wheel. It kind make a buggy into a cross between a kite buggy and a land sailor. I
had my wife use it because it is so easy to fly.
i see that the ride is somewhat bumpy, why not ride with bigfoot tyres?
it's better for your kindney's..
:D:D
The big Paraski is pretty much harness only. I done it both ways with the smaller ones, but on pavement or hard pack I don't really need a harness
with the smaller ones. I think the 6 m will need a harness.
I've thought about getting big foot tires or at least some wider tires. I was thinking maybe someone would list a set one of these days. I think
they would help at the fairgrounds too. Some guys use golf cart tires. Not sure where to get those.
I got my video from Monday done finally. Decided to take a page from Redsky's book and try something totally different. Since my riding spot is long
and skinny I've been calling my dragstrip. So decided on a drag racing theme. I wanted to get audio clip of the "SUNDAY! SUNDAY!! SUNDAY!!!" ads
that ran back in the day, but couldn't find them. Did find some good ones though.
