I've got a roll of something in the boot of the car which is sold for repairing nylon things in general like tents, awnings etc ... it's stretchy clear tape that is apparently available from hardware stores in the US but not here of course. Put some on my Airush and now I can't find the holes  can't for the life of me remember what it's called though - I'll have a look next time I'm in the boot.

For the 'harness' leash, make sure you got a safety on it - my Naish bar came with one and it's got a pull safety that I put on the harness end.
I didn't think you needed one with the Zero7 bar - until things went wrong and the Phanny went floating downwind without me  the Zero7 OE one ONLY works if you're hooked into the spreader bar ALL the time!

I seem to remember Carl saying that you should have a second safety leash all the time ... but I might be mistaken

My Fusion harness came with a really long DD that worked great but I lost it in the lake cos I hadn't attached it properly - now I've got a shorter one and I find I knock that off when I don't mean to, too ... some bars have much better solutions for chicken loops, I think Ozone does the Megatron loop or whatever - the DD looks to actually be part of it ...

Yeah... I got a kite. Or two...

Sounds like the stuff I still use it to patch small holes. Awesome stuff.

Tear-Aid ... muh I'm dense at time - that's the stuff! REALLY sticky ... and almost invisible - you have to look at the kite with the sun behind it to see the darker areas that the tape creates to actually find it!

Maybe you can pick that up at the store down the road ...?

I solved this problem of the DD coming loose by running it through the suicide leash loop at the top of the chicken loop. I've never had the CL come loose again because positioning the DD through that ring prevents it from sliding down. If it slides down, pulling the chicken loop into your belly pulls out the DD and the kite is free to find fences, thorns and road signs. I also like Carl's idea of the second leash.

On the repair, it should be fine with ripstop tape. You might even be able to find it in red. I also have some clear super sticky tape like kami mentioned and it disappears after you apply it. I don't think this warrants a professional repair. They could fix it for $25 I bet but you'll have another $20 for shipping each way. They will just put ripstop tape on with a supporting stitch all the way around. Probably not necessary on your small tear.

looks like most of the questions have been answered but heres another, to stop the top hat being accidently released, turn it upside down.
that suicide leash you linked to is not up to the job. the clips are not strong enough and will open when under tension and you will loos your kite again. you would be better off with something like this - http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=110...

Yeah, like 10 min. after I had told Mel it was OK to hook to the Chicken Loop and not the harness (so he could spin the bar), he is chasing his Synergy down Folly Beach. Sheesh. I had seen HQ bars come un-hooked but not PL's. Now I always clip to the harness.

Brian I can mail you some Red & White spinnaker tape. (White for the inside so it won't be as dark against the sun)

Found it! From here - http://myweb.tiscali.co.uk/mx5alan/arcs/ARCsetup_FAQ.htm

Control Bars - 07 - as supplied with the Venom II & Scorpion

Trim Adjuster Strap = 260mm adjustment
Leaders from the bar connection to O/S handle = 300mm
Leaders from O/S handle to Rear line connections = 570mm
Total Leader length = 870mm
Bar movement = 330mm (default) 370mm maximum
Depower Line total length (Extended) = 987mm (LE connections to Bottom Chicken Loop Stop)
Depower Line total length (Full depower) = 720mm (LE connections to Bottom Chicken Loop Stop)
LE leaders = 50mm LONGER than TE

12cm minimum is required so that the safety release can work correctly.
4cm minimum so that the velcro connection point can spin freely.

WARNING: Do NOT over tighten the stopper ball as it may damage the depower line. Only tighten until the ball cannot move along the line.

Safety Warning - Check your setup - DO NOT attach the leash to the safety leash attachment on the self landing handle, but attach it directly to the S/S ring where the self landing handle is attached to, as shown in the picture below.

DO NOT attach ANY leash using this or any similar type of connector ABOVE the bar. There is a VERY HIGH risk of lines getting caught in the clip which will prevent the kite from 'flagging out' when released.

User Warning: Please note due to the design of the TopHat (Push to Release) safety system implemented to comply with the French Kite Safety Rules (NF S52-503 July 2005 Kitesurf) requiring a force of 10daN maximum to release the kite it is possible to release the kite from the chicken loop just by knocking or catching your hand or cloths on it.

NOTE: To reduce the chances of this happening reverse the position of the Red TopHat release cover so it is as shown below.

no, just looking at the pic brplatz posted zoomed in on the front. i see the 07 with the outside line and the swivel top. hard for me to see the purpose in that. i do see the leash point in the loop and know its a nice suicide point . the DD looks light in YOUR pic KK, i can see problems with failure at that point for sure.

front line flag or suicide , simple safety ,keeps you safe and ALWAYS controls your gear.

Sorry about your kite.
All good comments here, I too had it happening, usually when sheeting all the way in.
the DD as supplied with the bar is crap, we have upgraded ones to replace the standard one (with the velcro)
other option is to connect the DD not to the chickenloop but to your harnessloop instead, but makes unhooking bit more tricky.
Top hat reverse, good one, is what I always recommend.
French law, sigh.

I use the Zero7 bar as well, but it came without the DD, so I bought a DD from Naish which attaches directly to your hook. It is super stiff and kind of hard to lock and unlock. But it really stays in place. Here are some pics:

Sorry for the bad quality just took it with my phone real quick.

Thats what I thought!!!! Dont trust the one that comes with it. My release failed, as could others.

I am going to leash from my harness to the CL from now on'

It will come loose if it slides down. Poke it through the suicide ring that's right beside it before locking in the CL with it.
