well, I guess the upside of not trying a speed3 15 is that my bank account is safe, at least for the time being.
Sunday works best for me, I work the next few Sat still. My weekends are not quite liberated, but the end is near. Either way, I'll let the crew know
here through the facebook page for the local kiters.
5km loop? You guys could kite right in the middle of that. I guess they might not like that so much. But, there is always Gull or Glennifer. I
haven't been to Glennifer but it has gotten a good review from some guys here in Calgary.
Anybody take any pictures/video of this past weekends festivities?

I had one good session on Gull this year. I don't travel in that area often but was visiting relatives so gave it a go. I thought I might have been
skunked judging from the wind on the surrounding land, but the geography streamlined the N wind very nicely. So, N winds are good for sure, probably
S too. I can't say for sure about E/W winds though.
But, in the summer I ran into some guys kiteboarding on Gull, and they said Gull was there go-to spot in the summer. In the winter, apparently they
go to a place that is even closer to them - some pond in Red Deer.

It is just south-east of the first turn-off to Gasoline Alley as you head north into Red Deer on the QE2
Thanks for the heads up on the speed skating race.

You got it. There is a short access road off McKenzie Road for access to a bird viewing platform at the north end - don't know if it gets plowed in
winter. I haven't kited there but here is local clip. It is very shallow so freezes up early but there are lots of bulrushes at the edges.
