OK so there the shape of a phantom, But they don't have the kick @ss attitude of the origanal. Always problem with a follow-up.
Whats next PL Geurilla II with a Spidermonkey on it? Where is the Phantom?
Of course as a power/traction kite it does look whicked cool . And
yes the Green/Black are the best. Just expected the image of the Phantom on there.

My thoughts exactly. They could have called this kite anything but phantom and I would have felt better about it. It's just hard to accept it as a
phantom...

Yes the Red is very sexy in person.
@ Roc and Cheezy, the best I can say about how this wing compares to original is try it (if you can find one) before you decide it lacks the kick of
the original.
I've had limited flight time on the Phantom 1 but the time that I have had on it it never made me as happy as the Phantom 2 has. Pound for pound I
think the Ph2 has as much kick as the Ph1. Maybe my dissapointment with the Ph1 is based on my flying time on the F-Arcs. On the surface the Ph1 and
F-Arc are very similar but the F-Arc is a damn animal and made the Ph1 feel completely gutless in comparison. Very dissapointing.
But the Ph2, that kite makes me smile.
As I've said all along, it's not going to be like the old Phantom. This, in spite of it's name, is a different, up to date Arc. Does it have some of
the Phantom's qualities? Sure, but it also lacks a some of the Ph1's qualities like bowties, slow turn rate. But in the overall view of things it's a
great kite and that's what matters. I spent the day on the 12m today in 25mph winds and it was a real treat. I love not having to keep an eye on
the kite. I love being able to feel where it is and not having any suprises. I put it on edge and pin it.
I'd be very suprised if anyone got on one of these things and said "Meh."
I have a ton of video of the wing in action. When I get the green light from PL to release it I will and you will at least be able to see how she
flies.

Chris, I'm sure it's a great kite. As I mentioned before I was commenting purely on the graphics since that was a major part of the original kites
appeal.

@ tri, The relaunch (for me on snow) has been excellent. Easier than the Charger or Syn IMO. If you have basic Arc relaunch techniques down then
you will find that this thing is cake to relaunch. That said I have no idea how she will relaunch on water. I think that PL is kinda focusing this
wing at more of a land based user like they did with the Scorp but I'm not entirely clear on that so please don't hold me to it.
@ Cheezy, I agree. I think we all were looking for a more Phantom 1 style on the new wing. No doubt those things look awesome going by. And I agree
that the new graphic does make me think Racer X ( I used to lover speed racer as a kid) and it does look a lot like the XXX logo. I'm just glad it
doesn't look like the Syn or the Charger.

Easier relaunch than the Ch or Syn?
That's interesting considering it's apparent AR - the belly is def. a little wider than the old phanny, but pretty amazing still!

Yeah, I know seems kinda contrary. True it's not the same AR as the old Ph1 so that lends to less bowtie action for sure.
It definately seems a lot easier to relaunch to me than previous Arcs. Maybe it's a matter of perception as Arcs have been all I fly for a few years
now and a lot of the handling has become almost just muscle memory. The only kite I've flown this season that wasn't an Arc was a 9m Frenzy '05 and
that was for about 8minutes.
The Ph2 relaunchs really well IMO. Even under inflated it seems better. When under inflated she tends to have front end collapse more than being
bowtie prone like some of the others. And when launching with low air it's very easy to balance teh front and rear lines to offset the front end
collapse. Much like you do when launching a Scorp or Phantom1 or F-Arc for example.

How does it compare with the huge, lo-wind Fly Surfers or the F-Arc 1600?

Yeah Feyd I agree with Cheezy and Chris, This may be a big bad kick ass kite. And I'm sure it is the beast it is expected to be. But sadly it lacks
the Phantom attitude. And though as some one else had stated in another thread that the look is not the kite. The Phantom was in the Opra not Vin
Diesel. Just expected more of a retro look on the graphics is all. Of course the Geurilla II lacks the Kong as well. So much for sequells.

HEHEHEHEHE, that made me snicker a little bit. Maybe I'm missing something when I've flown Phantom attitude is not what came to mind.
I'll give you that the original Phantom graphic was good. But beyond that I have no feelings of nostalgia.
The new graphic new graphic is ok IMO. Sure it's not as sinister as the original but oh well, I'm over it. I can't believe so much complaining has
come about about the kite based on the the graphics.
I care about how the kite flies, bottom line. People complained that the Charger was too fast, too agressive, too twitchy. Now PL has produced a
kite that takes the edge of the Charger's personality, claws up wind, rips across the window, has stabilty to spare and has more verstility than any
Arc I've ever flown and all we do is poo poo it because it lacks "attitude"?
I don't get it.
All I know is I love flying it. Peter Lynn has produced a lot of great wings. I wouldn't trade the Ph2 for any of them. I don't care how good they
looked. If the graphic is the deal breaker for those who wanted a new incarnation of the Phantom then I guess it illustrates what's really important
to some people.
For me, it's about how the kite flies. -
