The Century is a buggy engine. Any kite will produce lift, some more than others. The Century and the Combat are not designed as jumping kites, they were designed to move the buggy or person at great speeds from the power they generate.
If you want to jump then get a Flexi or PL Phantom or the like.

Got to try it at nahant yesterday, loved it, fast, powerful, stays inflated well and very cool graphics. The strop is kind of short but kite seems to fly real well with brake input which I like so no problem. May go on the need to get list.

Glad you like the kite.
The strop is a hot topic, TO SHORT, that is the way the kite is set up. If you buy the kite and don't like the strop, cut it and tie knots in each end and install your size of strop. No problem.
The kite is designed to be flown full out like a race kite, using the brakes to steer and land the kite with very little to no input from the power lines. I would guess the problem is the side rails of your bug is to high for the handles to operate.
If you want to use your handles, go ahead and put them on, just replace the PKD handles on the kite before you send it to the next person.
The handles can be ordered with longer strops if you desire.

I'm not complaining, I like to steer with the brakes and the set up works just fine for me. May be looking to the 4.5 as it would fill a hole in my quiver. Thanks for sharing big kid

I got to try this kite as Nahant as well.

Personally I thought the strop was the right length. I am used to the strop that comes with the Ozone Handles and this one seems about the same length.

I must say I hadn't flown any PKD kites before and the build quality seemed better than what I expected.
Kite felt stable and fast turning, also had a lot of power.

Ok, Just got the word from Paul that Cheezy left the kite here in Nahant (at my request, hope the rest of you in line don't mind:l:). I'm hoping over the next week or so we can really put it to the test. Last Wednesday when Cheezy and the N.J. crew showed up the wind was not blowing from the best direction — maybe 12-17mph at SSW. It's best blowing directly east or west here, but we still got quite a bit of riding in. The first thing I noticed was (and Dan can vouch for this) the brake lines were way to long, but that was quickly remedied by just pulling them in at the handles by about 5 inchs. I like the cleats on the handles!! After that Dan and I thought the kite flew great. We flew it back-to-back with my 6m Combat and we were able to get to the north end of the beach with each kite flying almost directly into the wind at times. The Soulfly actually seemed to go upwind a little easier than the Combat on one of our runs (not quite as fast downwind though)! :karate: The one other thing that we both agreed on was the stability... excellent! Ok, long post here; but more to come in the next few days. Peter

I must echo everyone's comments in the performance of the kite. Beautiful construction, nice fabric, multi-colored bridle all the goodies. It fills quickly and stay full during turns. No tip tuck or luffing. For a kite this large it turns pretty quickly, I even manged a couple of down loops. But WOW what power !! This thing pulls like a freight train !! My only complaint was with the strop being so short. But as discussed earlier the strop issue is easily resolved. You won't last long flying unhooked with this one. Unless you are Tarzan and used to swinging arm over arm from tree 'cuz that's what it feels like trying to hold on...

But any ways BIG THANKS to BIGKID for this pass. The kite should be on the way to Pyro by the end of the week....

So I got the kite and waited for Sunday. Well Saturday came and I got a phone call from my mom. Grandpa is dying. My wife and him bonded very well so she said we are going to the funeral. The funeral was in Boise Idaho. I live in Oklahoma City. So we left Saturday at 5ish pm. We were on the road when he died. Sorry I havent had a chance to fly the kite yet. I am hoping for tomorrow if the wind cooperates.

So finally after what seems like forever I am ready for a review. I unrolled the kite at work just to see its size. It seemed small for 6 meters, but anyways. I unrolled it again at the field and wasn’t sure what to think of the quick adjust break line. I am not sure if I like them or not. I prefer my knots to the quick adjusts. Anyways. launched the kite and WOW what power. So I like to use K.K.s when I fly. I just snapped them on to the break lines. Dont let them go otherwise they zipline all the way down to the kite.

I finally lauched the kite and buggied with it. The wind was 0-15 mph. I waited for the gust and away I went. it moved around fine not as responsive on the turning as I would have hoped but it didn’t do to bad. then a lovely gust of wind hit right as I was coming in to land. I almost got yanked but was able to hold it.

All in all not a bad kite. RTZ lives in the city with me and he can demo it this week so then its onto the next person so P.M. me with your info so we can get this pass on.

well ive had the kite 1 week and been skunked daily... last week it was hot and dead during the days, and a few nights when the wind did come up it went well into the 30s (some 50 mph crap too)

The park i fly at was swarmed with soccer peeps this weekend, but once agin i had little wind to work with anyway... and was a little, um.... under the weather from previous evenings activities one morning.... holiday weekend after all

i'll keep an eye out this week, but if i cant make it happen i can get this guy on its way if the flow needs to keep moving.... grrrrrr, new kite curse! D*** YOU!!!

"dang it" is all i can say lol

its time for me to pass the kite on..... weather is not cooperating with me.... my inland skunk has been worse than ever... took the kite out on saturday (again lol) and caught just enough wind to FINALLY get the kite up.... but my fields are over run with AYSO kids/moms.... plus the wind just wasnt there to ride. Had a few people tell me to get the hell off "their" field  , and had a couple people ask me about the kite (and commented on how flippin sweet it looked  )

i def liked this PKD more than the buster (i think) i flew a few years back... i still think i had that other kite set up wrong, for all the troubles i had with it... but this one was easy flying by comparison..... i just wish the winds wouldve been with me... ive had 0-5, and 35+ this year (and usually in the same day) no happy medium for a 6m soulfly

chris, u2u me your info and i'll send the kite out on Wednesday! Big thanks for passing the kite!!!
