The approach isn't looking very good. But both Del Rey and Gearhart approaches are good, so getting on and off shouldn't be a problem. Had some
great runs today and the weather forecast is looking pretty good.

That's what I did yesterday Chris. Just didn't trust it. I might add that it's not necessarily the approach that will get ya. And that's all I have

there's going to be a call made, but doesn't look promising considering what happened last year. They did come out and do something after they were
told how a few close calls of accidents happened. All they did was was put signs warning people to slow down.

I resemble that. :moon: In all fairness I did wait until I made it through the difficult part of the approach before I got stuck the first time.
Went down and checked Del Ray last night. It was fine save for the jerk in front of me that went down, got to the soft sand and tore a huge cookie
right out in front. Burned 'em off on the way back up too. I love that.
We went on at Del Ray today though and it was not too bad. Buggied in the storm- steady 27 gusting into the 30's. Raining so hard I could barely see
where I was going, but it was a blast.

At the moment the forcast is for NW winds all weekend.
What does NW mean in relation to the beach? Side on ?

NW would be that if you are facing north, the wind would be coming from about 10:30 position.

I guess I am asking if the beach runs exactly north / south ? Meaning we can expect side onshore winds with a NW.
Somehow I thought the beach doesn't run true north / south and a NW wind is bad for long runs? Your typical wind!?
Now Jim is going to tell me N.W refers the the whole region of the United States that I will drive through ! :P

Coming from the North the beach runs SW so a NW wind is not Ideal, a SW wind would be better, but with a good kite you can get some long runs in a NW.

A NW wind is not to bad.
It may take a little bit of taching to get to the ship wreck but will make one hell of a downwind run to camp.

Thanks MDK. (see you are a Good TR ! ) That is pretty much what I thought.
Weathernetwork is calling for wind every day ! Unfortunately it seems consistantly NW .
I will see for myself starting tomorrow!
Hope Kiteboyza is OK ? He should have hit the road already and we haven't heard from him?

Not sure I will take the car out on the beach if approaches are like last year. I might hang up at the shipwreck until we check in during high tide.
Then the evening on Sunset!

I made it on at Del Rey no problems and towing a trailer, Ken. You can do it! Better than a long walk. Just pay attention to the tides. The beach
gets small fast down there.
