My wife likes to fly, at her own speed and limits.................so she's in the intro in this video, I'll take the flight from there and make you
barf with the spins...............
Keep them warm happy safe, an they'll spin a kite on a warm summer beach any time.........
Looks like I am losing / have lost my best kite partner Airin to outrigger paddeling. We just don't have consistant enough winds here. I don't blame
her but I miss her like crazy !
It might be my age but for some reason I really enjoy riding with women. Less one upmanship or something ?
I also miss Stacey from Oregon and Tonya of Skycountry.
Around here it seems like women join and then move on. Thank goodness Sean's S.O. Dustysocks keeps coming back. She is another that I truly enjoy
riding / hanging with !
My wife Christi and my daughter Tyler like to fly but you will never see them on here I guess they have more important things to do when they are not flying

My wife is on Ravelry too, and actively lurks on multiple scrapbooking forums,... Her main hitch is her own scrapbooking blog, and all the design
teams which she is a part of (she's the scrapbook version of a team rider )
I just haven't gotten her interested.
Yet one more reason I want to get a tandem buggy set up....
Maybe when I get my 3 daughters grown up a little, I'll try to get them into it too.
Soliver, has your wife given you a tour of Ravelry? Those ladies make the guys running kite forums look like a bunch of amateurs. The amount of info
available there is amazing.

Is it possible to design for strength, if the designer doesn't really understand what strength is?

I feel like there are only two real obstacles to women in kiting. One is the existing gender bias. As a "guys club" it might seem inaccessible.
There's not a lot of community for the ladies.
The second issue is risk aversion. I've read plenty of studies that say women are more risk averse then men. So your average woman is going to be
less likely to continue with the sport once they understand the risks.
On the flip side, all of kiting is more cerebral than athletic. No one needs big muscles to do this sport. All you need is a willingness to use your
mind. It's the mental skills and experience that allow the experienced flier to assess the conditions, pick the right gear, use it wisely and walk
away from the session fulfilled.
I think we should convey to the more cautious crowd the message that you can choose the kind of kiter you want to be. You can be more conservative
and still have a lot of fun.

Feyd also made mention of something similar.. Made me think of this.
