Scott
Sorry to hear about the injury. It really hits home when it happens to one of us.
I recommend you take time to heal and listen to your doctors advise. The wind will still be there when you recover.
I hope your wife is understanding and that this does not put a end to Andrews kiting.
Let us know if there is anything we can do to help.
Dan

guys I have tried twice to write my story and my pos computer and weak wifi at the hospital have crashed it so I will write an in depth report when I
arrive home. thank you to all for the prayers and well wishes
scott
HIghlights- freak gust right after I sent kite for jump provide elevator that took me 35-40 feet up, I was able to redirect three times before wind
died which helped me to fall from only ~20 feet instead of higher- lucky! Did fracture my t-11 vertabrea and will be in body brace for the next 12
weeks unless lieing in bed. And no kiting or active sports for 6 months- sounds rough but I am happy my angel was watching and I am not in a
wheelchair more to follow I promise- And Yes I was scared $#!^less
winds 12-15 gusting to mid to upper 20s and was flying my 15m charger

Glad to hear your going to be okay. I joined the forum yesterday & who welcomes me? You, a guy in a hospital. He who was flying at an area
near by & suffers great misfortune but still has a moment to welcome a new forum member. Talk about Southern hospitality! You even want to know
where I am from in the highlands of Virginia. I am located in Smyth county out in the rural area not too far from Marion Virginia. Hope to meet you
sometime this year. Contact me if you're in the area. You have a new kite friend. Thank you.

Good to hear it wasnt the neck, t-11 puts in in the lower rib area commonly called the thoracic section. Im no longer a dummy about head, neck, chest,
spine damage. 6 months may seem like a long time but is much shorter than 2 years. Ribs take 10 months to completely heal.
Let your back heal and the chances of problems later on will be not so bad.

Just got off the phone with Scott. He really is in good spirits and says that it only hurts when he coughs or hiccups (side effect of the little
pills). He was up walking around with his brace on quite a bit today he said. He had just woke up from a little nap when I called. After our
conversation he was heading back for another nap! He was scheduled to go home today but due to the snow in the area of his home, his wife was not able
to go pick him up.
It's amazing how he still talked with the same enthusiasm as he does when he is telling any of his kiting stories. This guy as most of us know is
tough as nails when it comes to hitting the ground. He has had more bruises in one weekend of kiting than many of us have had in a lifetime. Not
because he is a bad kite flier, but because he always goes for it and tries to advance his skills. He is an outstanding pilot and has some great
skills on the board. I am sure he will be back on the board or buggy not long after the doc allows.
I am sure once he gets home tomorrow he will check in!
Scott it was great talking to you as always! Heal up soon and hope to see you for a couple days at WBB even if it is to just hang out!

Hope you heal well. I'm glad you kept your head and kept redirecting the kite. It can mean the difference between an epic jump or an epic tragedy.
Don't forget to take the stool softeners and heal fast.

Crap man. That sucks. That's a long time to be out but I'm glad to hear it's not worse. 20ish feet is no joke (fell 15 feet off a rock and
shattered my ankle in 2003). I get shivers when I hear 15m and 20+ in the same sentence. Take care of yourself and remember, you had kids so they
could do #@%$#! for you that you don't wanna do. Use that, man... Use it.
