I managed to fly/ride every day but some days were shorter runs - the last days were lighter and I really needed the extra long line sets to park the
big kite up high and go. Late Saturday afternoon/ evening, Jason and I went down to the beach as the zoo started to thin out. We flew kites until
sunset and I buggied southward and back a couple of times running the big kite nicely into the low sun over a beach wedding. Funny to see people at
the wedding looking up and taking photos upward rather than watching the couple doing their vows. The high heat and humidity Saturday really weighed
the kites down but we did squeeze in a small session to cap off the week. Packing up after was definitely the hardest part of the week.

Looked like good wind speed and a decent direction today, I imagine Ted probably had a good go of it today!
I'm hoping for a good run here on Saint Simons later in the week. East Beach is a big open spot and low tide is around noon Thursday with a good
suitable wind if the forecast holds up!!!
So glad you had good winds! Too bad pbc and I couldn't actually join you in buggying, but it was lovely to see you all. Spencer, sorry our paths
didn't cross (again!), but hey, next year right?

It would have been nice to have everyone at the BBQ lunch, a handful of people were in and out during the week and missed some of the larger group
shots taken. This is just one of the shots from the lunch - it's a small image just for the forum post for now - more to follow as I rake through the
shots and video and post higher res later

Now thanks to Mark I have to re-draw the Jekyll Island maps to extend the northern-most point of buggy runs. Still not sure how to put in to
cartographical terms how to avoid the "pointy bits" (see first picture) at Driftwood Beach.

It is a very technical section, Angus. Navigating the pointy bits and running straight upwind and straight downwind was some of the toughest obstacle
riding I have done. I advanced my buggy pilot experience by a couple years just by pushing the limits of the island this year

These are awesome Mark! I can't wait to see the video, and I'm glad you guys made the run. It's definitely challenging terrain, and you got further
than I even gave thought to! Nicely done.
I'm sorry I wasn't there to make the run with you, but now you've given me something even further to shoot for.
We'll have to setup something next year with a beverage stop and an umbrella for those who can make it :-). I'm willing to bet the run back was nice
and fun downwind run eh? Probably made it back in a third of the time it took you to get there once you rounded the tip.

Speaking as someone who put his kite (err, correction, pbc's kite!) on the "pointy bits", it's my official recommendation to not fly your kite into
them. And watch your downloops, those trees come up quick ;p

Wow a lot of people showed up. I guess we left to early.
Thinking about the people that weren't around for the bbq Friday afternoon there are at least 13 people that are not in any of these group shots (not
including any extraterrestrials that may have snuck into that group photo)

Okay here's the first movie I've thrown together (not driftwood, a collection of clips from the week, sorry i don't have everyone in here)
don't forget to change the settings to higher res from the default - still not as high as the original that i'll put up on vimeo later
