RED TIDE ALERT!

Beach has red tide crap all over it.....I rode the one mile parking lot which is now closed to all cars!!

Little better than expected wind speed, but oh so smooth.

.... and good zippy street riding:D

Update:

Still red tide... and it's over most of beach:(.

But..... winds unexpectedly turned semi-on-shore..... and were untypically very strong and slightly gusty. Took some very fast runs on rollerblades in parking lot.

BTW...parking lot is back open.

Nahant was awesome as usual. No red tide. Hard pack was good and the wind in the mid teens. The only problem was that wind was a little more gusty than usual so kept me on my toes the whole time.
Awesome day to buggy!

The flexifoil blurr 5m.
Today was even better than yesterday. At around 9:30, wind was NNE in the low teens. At around 11 turned to ENE and was in the high teens. Again flew the flexi blurr 5m the whole time (a few times very overpowered). Had some awesome full length of the beach runs and managed to get some good speed runs. Got to 39.9 mph (will post latter on the PB thread) and than ran out of beach so had to stop quickly before getting into the rocks at tides restaurant.
At around noon the wind started tapering off, so packed up and called it a day.

Good job advancing your PB for speed.

Nice catching an on-shore to help you out with that too.

Sounds like a better day today! You were absolutely right yesterday, I should of put up the 10 instead of the 8. Had some fun though in some strange wind with the new 8.

It was good seeing you at the beach yesterday gravityguy.
Yeah that wind was all over the place yesterday, up-down-gusty, better on one side of the beach house and then better on the other side. That was the weirdest thing about it.
:D I know how that is with a new kite, have done it a few times myself, putting up a 3m kite in 6mph winds just because I had to try it.

Just got back from close to your neck of the woods (and of course Glx is over on this side...how did that work out?). Was in Worcester last 2 days, but whirlwind college visit, no time to go the extra hour to Nahant. Wind looked good, even inland. Looks like you had a good day, ski!

That's been the story of my life the past year. When the kids were younger it was soccer games that kept me from getting to the beach and now that they are older its college visits and those are taking way more time than soccer ever did on weekends. I really miss the days I went to Nahant every other weekend.

Sorry to sidetrack, but I guess I need someone like Indigo Wolf's computer expertise..

... my youtube screen is suddenly all black on here(PKF) and won't play now- in my Microsoft Edge browser. I can play youtube videos on youtube's site only after refreshing. It starts out the same, though-all black and unplayable until I refresh..

Little help how to fix?

Guess I'm using my 'Chrome browser for video 'till Microsoft Edge is fixed.

Thanks in advance.

(PS: added another video above)

Jeff, next time you come over this way we definitely need to ride.
Ski, who was that riding on Sunday? I was hopping to make it out today but all this rain did not help. If the weather cooperates will probably be out early morning either Sat or Sun before low tide.

Yeah, definitely. Haven't been there in ages. Sailed in a World Cup in Marblehead a long time ago, loved that area, very old New England. I remember the wind being strong and steady, we were tacking on 5 degrees. Nahant looks like a great beach to land board/bug.

I rebooted several times and nothing...It just started working again as mysteriously as it had stopped. All's good.

The person in video is Peter- a long time Nahant kite buggier. Another Lynn citizen and close to the beach, as I am.

Nahant is a Mini-Mecca( mini because the beach is only a 1.4 miles at best, if East winds. Mecca because it is a mile long sliver sticking into a bay). East and west winds both work to get you up and down the beach...unlike most beaches with one shore. You double your good wind opportunities. Wider hardpack than WBB's beach as a comparison. Lots of kite surfing going on too.

Very lucky to live near this.

Lynn, Lynn.... City of sin, But o'm'gosh, beach next door for kiting the wind!!

Sat was an OK day. Morning had stiff winds from WNW. Got a few nice and fast runs in the mid to high 30's from North of the beach house to the Tides rocks. Most of the hardpack was about as rippled as I have ever seen it with only a very narrow strip of flat surface, so I might have lost a couple of tooth fillings while running down the hardpack.

Looks like we must have just missed each other. Hit the beach at 6am and left by around 10:15. For most of the time had the beach to myself with only a few water guys out there. Good day about 31 miles in and a few times got into the high 30s. The wind was strong but very gusty which reduced the size of the kite significantly. Overall great day to buggy.

Wind got terrible after you left ...

....kites dropped out of sky at times with no wind and then ramped up to 20 mph at other times. Wind direction shifted at times too...

Should have been down earlier for sure... :(

Too foggy to kite..?

We had unusual thick fog roll in over two days this week at beach with on-shore winds. I thought it added a lot more risk -not so much for me -but for the public walking beach sand as visibility was less than a hundred feet at times.

So I stayed off sand with full-length line foils, and opted to go short line(20 ft. lines) with NPW in beach parking lot. Still, I rode mile long runs each way. I couldn't pass up premium on-shore winds.

Yup....I got options.
