It says to tell them if I need anything else for my trip?
Do you think they could do a dozen mile an hour onshore wind for me?
I'd be willing to pay extra....

Hi all,

I am new to the sport have only been to two Wildwood events so far. Only one with my own buggy (last fall). Off-course I plan on attending in the spring of this year. But I want to get more time in a buggy. I am excited to be able to get to the Jibe this year. It is a bit of a drive for me. But I am sure it will be worth it.

and Ed, I did request a room with the onshore wind upgrade:lol:

I know where you're driving from Jack. I lived in Geauga Co for many moons.
Once you cross the West Va bridge it's all good.
Look forward to the meet up, this will be the first buggy ride I've had on a beach..

On a good direction (E ish) you will love how much easier it is than at home. If the wind is from a poor direction (N or S) it will be harder but still better than home. If it offshore (west) you will be windshadowed and probably feel right at home.

Happy happy, joy joy, thanks Randy.
I've been worrying about my small experience on a big beach.
Wondering if I'll demonstrate how sharp you can get on a little field, or provide entertainment.
I'm okay either way. I want my age in KPH out of that beach, but I'll settle for a safe trip.
If this works I'm gonna show y'all what a years worth of trying got me in 2019.
Probably a real kiters morning ride.

Edit . If you could see it, it would show persistence and a top speed on this field of 22mph. Miss 30's, want 40.
Thanks to Mr Angus for the GPS. An obsession sent to me for the cost of postage.

You'll be amazed at how the hard packed beach and room to run will make speeds in the 30s and 40s routine. I still remember my first time I got caught up in a broad reach and hit my PR at the time of 35.6. It's magic when it feels effortless.

Actually, one I find difficult about JIBE is having to watch out for other riders and "civilians" on the beach. I'm used to being the only person at the fairgrounds. I don't ride on the parking lots at the lake if there are many cars or people present. That's why I love cold, miserable weather - everybody else is indoors and I have the playground to myself.

I usually migrate to the most unpopulated area of the beach at Jekyll and ride mainly there, but stop in at the "base camp" to take a break and talk to the other kiters. The Day's Inn is on the Southside of the beach which is much less crowded. If the wind is good it only a take a few minutes to get to base camp.

My first time on Jekyll, it took me a lot of effort getting used to not having to turn. I was so used to riding in very small fields, so I had never been able to go further than the length of maybe 3/4 of a football field. I would go a little ways and turn, then go back a little past where I started and turn, repeat, repeat... it was so engrained in me that I had a hard time shaking the habit.

Jekyll has many many miles of rideable beach and some have pushed the boundaries and gone farther than any other in the past couple of years!

Trying to get every minute I can but not today. It's a Randy day.
Light wet snow with warmer ground under.
Sitting thinking if I'd be okay kiting in my wellies?
Need to think about May.

Ed,

It has been quite the opposite here. We have been in the upper 40s. I am sure it is my fault. I built this thing to use this winter.

How ever the weather did allow me to zig zag up and down the local soccer field in my Flexi Buggy. So no complaints.:D
