I have a lovely girlfriend who is learning to kitesurf... i'm very lucky to have her - i'm completely lacking in the emotion department, i really couldn't care much less about wanting/desiring relationships or having a woman in my life i love close friends and that's who she is to me - with a couple of obvious benefits over my standard friends

So I'm attempting to get the girlfriend hyped to learn to kite. I forced her to watch Something Stronger with me, she liked it..now I just need for the weather to calm down to take her out and teach her. She seems rather apathetic to it..but I'm hoping after she feels the kite grab her, she'll be hooked. I just need to get some smaller kites for her!

it won't happen domdino. Its too late, we decided to split up on saturday, It feels #@%$#!ty, and the timing couldn't been any worse, as it is exam week in university. On top of that, I now want bow kites, and all I have is a flysurfer, and the wind is good, god, I want to fast forward 2 month from now :S

So....how many marriages do you think folks "fall out of love" in, or at least think that's what happens?? Yep, you're right....all but the rarest!

That might not match everyone's opinion, but, I think she is really saying that, with time, you actually find out a bit more of what real love is (with, or without, hormones), and how much that person you've shared so much of life with can mean to you, and how much you can come to enjoy growing old together. It's not always that you have the same interests in all of life around you, but that you turn outward, and have an interest in each other. Then, you realize you are actually friends who care for each other. If it ain't happenin'......one of ya has to start it.

If ya want to make divorce rates drop,just do the following. First you make a marriage license cost 50,000 dollars,and a divorce 50 dollars. Here's why if you as a couple, can get 50,000 dollars to get married.Then I'm pretty sure you really mean it! If it all goes to #@%$#! then 50 bucks to the court and sorry bout your luck. And if 50 Gs ain't a lot of money to you, then your on your own ,don't blame me.

Today, I went for a run with teh girlfriend..shes a cross country runner, and just as passionate about running as I am about kiting..so I took the time to try running (something I have never quite enjoyed..not technical enough I suppose.) and I had a great time...and now, I have the right to drag her kiting..and hopefully she'll have just as great a time.

Moral of the story: if you're going to take a girl kiting, return the favor and try out her hobby! (And if you hate running on the streets, try trail running in the woods..its much more fun.)

this thread might have died by now, but just find someone who values you, and what you like to do. If that means you take off for NABX for a week, so be it. My wife is fine with me disappearing to kite, and actually likes it when I pursue my things. And yes, we have a healthy relationship. If you decide to share your life with someone, that doesn't mean giving up your life. To each its own, even in a relationship.
