You're just jealous of other people's ability to use a non-commercial forum for commercial end. Stop being so bitter and learn from their example.
Learn that if you help people they respect you and trust you. If you happen to have a product to sell they'll consider buying from you over the
people they do not know and have no reason to trust. As always in life you have to give to get. This is relationships 101.

At the risk of being very unpopular, shouldn't we evaluate the message and not the messenger? I would hope this forum will be consistent with its own
rules, and be objective. Does this not warrant some discussion if this thread is consistent with rule 2.1?

These are historic items being offered at no commercial gain to Ricardo and are of general benefit the community. I will often post links to my web
site to for-sale items when they are of genuine interest to the community and offer no significant profit or gain to me. An example is used kites
listed for a customer of mine where I get no commission. Ricardo is doing the same here for PL "himself".
Time has indicated that this practice is acceptable to the community and PKF moderators and is in the spirit if not the letter of the rules.

Yes you are right. It is a KITE clique. That's it other than those that are close to each other geographically. Just nice guys helping each other
out and discussing a hobby they are passionate about. But then again, every once in awhile a spoiler comes along slinging stuff that doesn't smell
good. All decent folks are welcome as long as they play well with others.

lol, im like the antique road show.
i could sell these on shop website too, but i only posted on this forum to let the fine fellows of THIS FORUM have first pick of the Phanny. i value
the members of this forum, and wanted to give something back. the only thing im giving up is TIME, TAPING, BOXING, COURIER SERVICE INBOUND. at the end
of the day, i make $0.00 CDN/USA Dollars.
if you're unhappy about my post report it ... i remember for future when goodies come about, ill keep it off the forum. PKF can be given notice LAST.

To me the key thing is, has Rip's thread intruded into kite stuff that interests me? The answer is clearly no...until "notreallyme" decided to change
the topic. As I type this, I feel as if I have been manipulated into changing the topic as well.
OK, end of discussion for me. I ask that if people want to discuss rule 2.1, they go start a new thread.
Rip, I hope you sell every one of 'em. You are an asset to this forum. Keep up the good work.

I'm not trying to say that rip is doing something wrong, just that the question itself is reasonable.

Me too! but most of the responses are based on a subjective basis, and I'm not surprised. Basically the responses have been he is a great contributor
of this forum, so the rules might not/should not apply, or even be asked.
IMO, the question comes down to the making money (by the manufacturer) on a brand new product (albeit old but unused product) coming from the
manufacturer to a distributor. I honestly don't know if this violates 2.1 or not. But simply asking this shouldn't cause anyone, rip included, to
threaten anything against this community.
I am not questioning rip's benefit to the community, benefit of these kites to the community, how nice rip is for doing this, yadda yadda yadda.
Those should have no bearing on the issue. An objective observer would agree with me.
But I'm probably just talking in a strong wind...
EDIT: Disappointing to see lots of people putting their own benefit from this sale above the possible violation (?) of the forum rules. If it
benefits them, heads go in the sand...

If these were chargers or just any readily available product, then there would be a definite issue with commercial sales. This is different since
these kites haven't been made for 6 years and won't be again. I see an obvious distinction here from someone selling new current model gear for a
profit. I wouldn't feel any different if I didn't get to buy one. Rip probably could've sold all these quietly amongst his friends. I imagine I'd
have been on the offer list. I think he was truly doing a favor to OUR community to get the message out that he found something truly unique and
until last week was almost certainly unavailable at any price.

It appears to me that rip is not using this as a for profit venture, but as a service to fellow members of the PKF.
The intial comment by "notreallyme", a NEW member as of TODAY is nothing but a phony attack IMO. Further, I saw no where that rip had "200 plus"
kites for sale.
I say "thanks to rip" for his time and effort in distributing these out of date/production kites to the forum members. I only hope that he (others)
ignores the ignorant and does not let this affect his (or others) future consideration of another offering.
Again, THANKS rip!!!
