Nice work! I was anxious to hear how it went. Glad the wind showed up. Maybe the race will last until jibe. :D

Jason, I just use an app on my phone. It seems like its accurate although I have no way of knowing. The only drawback is it eats up your battery pretty quick. It would only be practical for keeping track on a short session.

I've always read that the GPS apps are not as accurate as a dedicated unit... but I won't bust your chops for that, ...I think my etrex was a $99 Christmas gift one year.

Had a windy day yesterday, so I thought I'd make an attempt. My field had thawed and was soft so I knew I probably wouldn't be able to make a serious attempt. I flew the 4m twister and 4m nasa back to back to make a good comparison between each. Winds were very gusty so I didn't hook in with the twister. To keep it fair, I didn't hook in with the nasa either. My speed with the twister working the heck out of it was 16.6. My speed with the nasa was 19.5. It would have been interesting to have compared them when my field is frozen with less rolling resistance. It's very possible the outcome would have been different. I'm paying for it today, I haven't flown unhooked for a couple months.

Sean you better come to jibe. I'm putting my vacation request in now to be there from Saturday till Saturday. If the wind is up like last year, you both will be breaking 30 mph easy. Now that I have the set of reactors I am really itching to put up a small kite on that hard pack to see if I can break 40 :)

Oh no Spencer, re-read the thread, you were to break your top SPEED - damn fine print

Sorry to hear and hope you heal up fine. It'll feel weird pushing on a foot peg for a while after so you might want to look at heel straps.

I know quite a few guys that have busted up heels landing in shallows or on the beach hard kiteboarding and i think I purchased the first buggy in Canada many, many years ago followed by the first buggy accident / broken foot a week later (but I did teach that goal post a few things)

We can talk about our foolish moments at JIBE
Take it easy and heal well.

Wow Spence, so sorry man! I have had several OBEs at this point, but none all that dangerous or scary for the most part. I bet this one wasn't all that scary until you hit the ground. I really feel for you man. On the bright side, it happened a long enough time before JIBE that you should be healed by then
