On shore winds in lower/ mid teens...and steady. Unfortunate but some 'red tide' on beach. Not thick but spread out... but enough to dissuade
me(I've been spoiled!).
I skipped the sand with my Coyote Rollerblades and rode the asphalt of the mile long parking lot.
..But I also spent some social time too and got some video of those 'buggin' through the scattered light muck...
Awesome Ski, good to see there was a group of guys in there today. Unfortunately I could not make it as I was on my way back from Ohio. Tomorrow
though will try to make it out there by about 8 am if the wind is as predicted.

Wait for it.. wait for it....There it is! On shore winds!:singing:
Today was a chance to ride in beautiful 70 degree weather before the holiday and crowds. Just enough bikinis:P....but not loaded with sunbathers. A
big wide open hardpack lane just for me to ride my Coyote Rollerblades.
Wind was low and was dreading not bringing bigger kite(would have helped but still be slow). I was looping kite and eeking out some slow
riding....,and then... wait for it... wait for it...wind picked up finally, into double digits.... and got into some better cruising speeds and even
got some light jumping. :Ange09:
More on-shore tomorrow forecast + temps cooler means no crowd... and another opportunity.

Saturday afternoon looks like it might be a repeat, even though overcast.
We will see hopefully some mid teen easterly winds and enough rain to keep the crowds away but no downpours.

Yup. On shores!
:o..clouds early means crowds leave early! I see only small chance of rain forecast 25%...fingers crossed.
Looks like that may all line up on Saturday!...
REMINDER or in case unfamiliar to summer rules:
*Don't ride if crowded on ANY part of beach. Wait until many or most leave. WE have agreement w/DCR. You may also on such days ride VERY early, then
leave when crowd starts coming, (if lower tides allow).
* Don't ride from restaurant to last lifeguard stand(just past mid bathhouse) while lifeguards are still there in stands or still lots of people .
Another agreement w/DCR.
*After lifeguards go home AND crowd mostly is gone, you then may ride to restaurant. ..(whole beach). So park outside this area too( park in
section/entranceway 9, 10, 11...) to start kiting earlier in these sections(from mid bath house to Lynn rotary).. if thinning crowd then allows..
Please....Do not go for your PB or Ultra-high speeds during the SUMMER SEASON. In other words...slow it down a bit.
Wait until the long OFF- SEASON for super fast speeds. It's one more consideration to the public and DCR Staff watching you.
Access to ride can be taken away from us at any time... Officially. Just one complaint may do it. It's happened here in past and for many others and
their own beach locations.
Some common sense items and some items that would not have know unless was told.
We need to be as considerate as possible to not ruin this for everyone. Last weekend ran into a biologist talking in possessed tongues about pipping
plovers and complied with her request to only ride on the pebbly part of the beach so as to not create any uneccessary complaints. Unfortunately thats
what we need to do to not loose this lovely beach.

everyone is a ornithologist this time of year...
if the Audubon Society ever finds out about PKF...im sure we will become designated domestic terrorists
Plovers, Oyster Catchers, Terns or Pigions doesn't matter...when the self proclaimed defenders of all things w/ feathers shows up
you've got a big problem
if you want to kite and its a nice beach day...know its better to wait for the weather to turn bad, its better to maintain a low profile
Birders don't show up when its yucky and blowing 20+
What an awesome day in Nahant today. Got there and was riding by 6 am left at around 9 am, with the incoming tide leaving no hard pack to run. All in
38.5 miles traveled. Onshore mid teens with some periods of time getting in the high teens low twentys. The beach was absolutely empty besides some
guys kiting on the water.
What a marvelous beach for buggying!!

GLX, I should of considered this morning. Glad you got out and had a blast.
I am planning on heading out this afternoon even though the chances for rain are higher now. Hopefully it will be light and clear the beach.

Ski, Yesterday went there around noon riding the bicycles with the kids and it was like a zoo. Parking lot full to the point that they were closing it
periodically.
Gravityguy, I would have joined you this afternoon but got a party to go to for the afternoon and evening.
Wind forcast for tomorrow early AM looks like it might work but will wake up, check whats happening with wind and then decide to head out or not, of
course if I am not too badly hurting from tonight.

No one goes in the water here without wetsuits to Kitesurf.
Lucky to have this 'backyard' area and grateful. Only a mile to 1.4 long-depending on wind direction, but double the opportunity of other beaches not
located on a spit.
The parking lot is a mile long also, to provide short line riding(single skin preferable) in good wind (and good wind direction) when it is
high tide in off season or cool days during season when most people stay home.
In fact, there's so many more opportunities for the latter that I'm riding lot more in lot than sand. Good thing it's not hot year round here so beach
gets empty.
But I 'glow' much more from experiences on sand. Still residuals from Thursdays outing on sand.
Yesterday was a blast. 25 miles done, empty beach. Ski-thanks for the shots. I thought that had to be you.
A couple other thoughts from the session...
- it was the first time out under the SARC 460. Great kite. Lots of power in that wind. Strong power. I found the depower adaquit could of been more
but I blame that on the bar.(more on that below). Auto zenith, kite raced to 12 than slid down the right edge of the window(see lines below) also this
kite flies high at 12. Virtually straight overhead.
- bar - I need to replace this bar or at least the depower line. The bar has a circular straight hole for the depower line which allows it to bind at
times. Perhaps I wil just replace the depower line. It could use some more throw and is a little worn
- lines - I checked these lines today due to the right slide of the kite. Yep front line that is also the flag out line has stretched a couple inches.
I have yet to decide the best option to fix this that will also work as I use this bar with several kites.
- beach - nahant is great. A combination of east winds and who knows what, waves maybe, keep the hard pack to a minimum yesterday. Strong winds
combined with a new kite forced me to ride the wet pack. Did not bother me well I was out there but I was covered in sand by the end. Oh well. Lots of
washing of equipment today.
All in all a great day!

Wind was up early today...and on-shore, yet again.
The temp was a perfect 60 -65 degree thru the morning.
A bit off of straight on-shore meant best stretch was doing far end( mid bath house to Restaurant) until a late turn to full on shore couple hours
later. Best surface this stretch also.
Wind in mid teens, using 4m JoJo RM for lotsa laps and leaps. I stayed 'til just before tide drove me out.
**Be careful of new Roll-a-Fence . The wood slat and wire has some occasional 'barb wire' ends.
I like to use this as backstop(or any beach fence in staking for on shores) but... I caught a barb of wire and tore a nice 3" X and Y axis tear.
Patched w/ sail tape and was back in game!
