Hey Sthrasher38

I fly nasa wings all the time with the buggy. They are great in gusty inland wind. There are several of us now that are flying them over here. You can fly them on handles with no line and any lenght line set you wish to use. In parking lots we fly them on handles or maybe a 10 ft. line set. Just remember to move you hands down the handles some because they need more brake input than foils. Once you figue out how much brake to apply then it is clear sailing.

As Susan (the NPW goddess) has said, just fly em right off the handles and they work great. Most of the people on the playa here use 15-25 foot lines just to get the kite out a bit. Line length doesn't have the same effect on the NPW's as it does on the other foils. Use the brakes a lot more and have fun. Don't forget to get in on the rag-flapper race!

See ya on the playa!

Hey Glenn

I am not so sure about the "king" title. This year there will be more competition in the rag flapper races. It should be a lot of fun.

Is it time to leave.

shorter lines the better;)

Tried a session once with my 7m on 25m lines. Thought my arms were going to to ripped from my sockets. Was funny though as a nearby guy was instructing a bunch of people and was telling that npw's were just plain un-useable in a buggy, cue many fast runs up and down the beach with said npw:singing:

Far more fun on just handles direct to bridle (and agree with the extra brake bias, it just works:lol:)

Thanks everyone I will try right off the handles for awhile Then for the playa and rag flapper race I will add a little length To see how that goes. I think I need some more practice really before I race but we'll se how it goes. I don't want to look like a total baby out there.:P But ya know what who really cares. At least if I lose I can say I was beat by the best.:tumble: How many days before we can leave?

hey trashter
whats cool about flying npws on short lines is.
you just roll up your lines around your handles and stuff
the kite back in the bag. when your ready to fly again just hold the kite in one hand and unwind the lines with the other hand letting the line fall at you feet. then you can just throw the kite in front of you. shake the kite and your flying.
very hard to get tangles that way. I HATE TANGLES.
see you on the race track. i`ll be the one going by in a blur. LOL.
i don`t think i should tell you some of my npw race serects. but what the hell. its a good idea to have a few npws set up with lines and handles so if the wind picks up or drops off you can which kites in seconds.
i hope i don`t get flamed for this. LOL

hey aj
thems fightin` words. i`ll never give up my first place title without a fight. (or a race)
hey brad
i have to be truthful. there was some luck with me winning ALL THREE RACES. just before the start of the race we had a dustdevil blow thur and knocked out some racers with broken lines and ripped kites. i was luckly and saw it coming and i was able to ball up my kite just before it hit. next thing i know the race marhalls are blowing the one minute whistle and race was on. other one of my serects is to walk around the buggys and lossen bolts when nobody is lookin` or just nik lines with a knife. LOL nobody said i had to play fair.:singing::rodent:;):D:smilegrin:

I'm trying to register for nabx but I keep getting this message...

"ERROR:
You have attempted to access this form from an unauthorized referer. Access denied!"

Hopefully Bob will figure it out for me in the morning. Don't work too hard guy.

Update: I'm registered! I tried it again this morning but still got the error message, so I copied and pasted the nabx link directly into IE's url bar and went from there. This time it took my info when I hit the Continue button. Just a heads up for anyone else that may have this problem.

Goggles is not a bad idea. We were out on Elmers a few years ago and the winds were blowing small rocks and they would hit you in the head and face. I sure was glad I had a full face helmet on then.

You will need knee pads, elbow pads, helmet, gloves and goggles. I also wear long sheeve shirts and long pants to keep me covered up in case I have a obe.

So I'm standing out on the playa waiting for the wind to pick up and suddenly my head jerked up and looked back towards Vegas.

"What's up" said somebody standing nearby?

"I just heard a top fuel dragster make a pass!" I said.

"Oh yeah, the Sand Drag Nationals are going on right behind Buffalo Bills!" he said.

There's your excuse (assuming they'll be there that week too). ;)

hey terry
sure i`ll set up your npw for you. just make a 10,12ft line set and have a spare set of handles ready.
one more good thing have for safely gear is a dust mask. you know the kind you use when working in dusty condions.
i always bring a few.
