AJ's brother Bill and his wife Nita came to my fathers wake in Buffalo, NY today. What a class act, especially considering how much they had to deal themselves, and that they live in Texas!

We are still working out the details, but AJ's family and friends will be gathering in the Outer Banks to celebration AJ's life on 22 Oct. i'll post more info here as it becomes available.

i'll get the contact info for AJ's Mom and brother in Texas for those that want to send them condolences and post it here.

As far as a donation or group thing? AJ loved NABX and i know dean is already working on somes way to honor and memorialize AJ.

if others still want to do something i'd recomend setting up a fund so each year an international rider could be sponsored to NABX in AJ's name. i'd be glad to work on that with anyone who's interested.

Now that I have # boards on my buggy, there will be a commemoration of our friend. Maybe we could come up with a collective idea that could spread and build in numbers.

Here's another article about AJ's accident with photos of what the conditions were like at Cape Point that day:

More Wind Up Top!

Several years ago I arrived at San Luis Pass to find very little wind. Just as I was setting up the wind meter, AJ rolled by in his buggy and yelled "More wind up top!".

Since it was only blowing 3 or 4mph according to the meter on the ground, I thought how much more could there be up there? So I launched an 11m Razor. Big mistake! It was all I could do to hang onto the handles with my fingertips and every slight ripple in the wind was lifting me off the ground towards that nasty brackish pond 150 yards downwind. I REALLY didn't want to let go and have the foil land in that pond.

Finally I just turned sideways and once the foil did too, I pulled harder on the upwind handle and inched the foil down the edge of the wind window until it touched down and I was able to get a better grasp on the handles. Lesson learned AJ!

Anyway, RIP AJ. May you always find the best wind up top now.

Hey gang,

Marina from The Kiteboarder Magazine is putting some stuff together for a tribute to AJ in the Mag. She's looking for print quality photos of our lost friend. I've found some on the internet...but we are in need of high-res originals.

Specifically, they are looking for some shots from the early days. I told her that AJ was best known for buggying back then and she said that buggy shots are fine.

So, we need to spread this throughout the community and see what we can churn up. Please forward this email on to anyone you know that might have shots of AJ. Please send all pics to me at precisionpoker@gmail.com.

Thanks for your help on this!!
