This could be the best year in a long time that we'll all get some serious unobstructed, long distance seat/board time.
Any long range rain forecast out there yet?

I am all for having a bit of a long distance competition for seeing how far north we can go. I am bringing my upwind monsters, so give me your best
shot, guys! Looking at the forecasts from last year, I could just about use the 19m Speed3 every day that week. Of course the Charger and Reactors
are going to get some love too though. My girlfriend is getting very excited to come, and her family is stoked to stay on the island and see what it
is all about. I am really hoping to get her dad to have a seat in the back of a tandem for a few rides around.

Just curious, how the heck ya'll made it through all those huge black mounds (coral looking stuff- like mounds of asphalt) that riddled the beach
before reaching driftwood? That stuff stretched all the way down to the waters edge at low tide :puzzled:

This is a really low tide. The passable portion is in the middle of your photo right next to the sea wall. It's tricky because the beach up there
starts turning so gradually north. If you get suckered by a wind with south in it, then it turns in to a downwind that you might not notice until it's
too late when you try to come back south. Then you are on a narrow beach slogging north out of a hole. The only encouragement you get are the partiers
on their beach decks with drinks in their hands as they cheer you on. But those trees are close too!

Well looks like I will be there this year with my friend. We plan on coming up Sunday mid day and staying until Tuesday afternoon. Just got a hotel
registration and will be getting registered with NAPKA later tonight.

Anyone going to come early or stay late? As usual, work conference is stealing me from being able to attend :-(. Angus, we need a fall event here too
so I can make one of these again!
I'm thinking of trying to head up May 2nd and/or 3rd for a quick session. Anyone else going to be around?

Ted is down there for two weeks - probably arriving earlier? and Errol arrives saturday 2nd and Jason and I arrive on the 3rd (we'll probably be there
early to mid afternoon). Last year Scott and family arrived on either saturday or sunday - they were there for sure sunday.
You'll probably be on your way back from driftwood beach by the time Fiona and I arrive :D

I'll be there late (Wednesday to Sunday) then on Saint Simons Isl. the next week. Not so sure I'll be able to get away though... Angus may be
available, shoot him an email... I couldn't make the JIBE 2012, but met up with Angus the following Wednesday.
We are coming in on Saturday 5/2 and staying through the 16th. The tides are such that the first week will be the best bet as the second week will be
morning tides. Not that a thing like that will keep me off the beach! Think of it as afternoon time to bond with the family....

Will anyone else be there the 2nd for me to ride with that afternoon/evening? I would like to fly every day, but I won't be going out most likely
unless there is someone there on the beach to ride with

How many people will be at this event? Will the beach be overrun with kitesurfers from the other event?
What about other activities prior to low tide or no wind? We were looking into possible Geocache and horse riding somewhere. Maybe some bicycle
rides.
Just looking for alternatives in case there is no wind.
Went for a skate session the other evening but the wind died here in Cocoa Beach. Had to come up with an alternative so we ended up jogging down the
beach on our skateboards and taking turns pulling each other. Had fun but it gets tiring quickly. Especially lugging me around.

its a small event , the wounded group , never met , don't know, seemingly small.
small scene in general totally low key. weekdays its practically empty beach
theres a new hotel front and center but doubtful its impact at this point will noticed.
cool spot , kinda got the" whole place to yourself feel"
skate/bike/sup/kayak are good options no rentals that i am aware of, gotta bring your own. quick paddle over to cumberland island, generally very
flat, tide sensitive. water is super flat , hi tide rolls up small in a spot, but not much there at all in wave action (unless a NE comes in at
hi tide but thats more of winter thing)
nice big beach side side walk for skate fairly long 1/2mile+ maybe longer now and COMPLETELY empty, no techinal bike stuff, but a fair amount of
shaded paths.
public golf course , water park if you got kids , manison tours/ sea turtle thing
