Are you looking for more slip or more grip? If slip then I highly recommend Mega Tsunamis in either 82a or 85a (my current favorite). You can get
them directly from Pete (Mr. Rainskates) in Alaska. Just tell him you want the silverfish deal and he will send them to you at that price which
includes shipping. (full disclosure... Mega Ts are being discontinued because of urethane swirling issues. All my Mega Ts have swirls. Swirls have
had no effect on performance for me).
If more grip I'd maybe look into abec zig zags or big zigs.

I'm not sure what I need. I stopped by a skate shop yesterday and they recommended a wider wheel with a rounded edge for smoother slides. I'm not
sure I want to go too hard. Maybe an 80A?
In the wake of flooded fields I've had a vision tonight. It spoke to me and said I must install 5m line on my peak bar and hit the asphalt with the
full functionality of the bar. Winds looking proper. hopefully I gain a new perspective on an existing unit.
Craigslist, $40 - $60 usually. It has to be the least expensive form of kite powered locomotion. We have passed Father's Day, but maybe you have a
birthday coming up
nothing but stifling heat and barely any wind. I did get moving a little. toe side while hooked in seemed very awkward. Maybe a waist harness would
be better or a sliding spreader for my seat harness? I didn't have enough wind for a good test but I'm not sure I'm going to like riding toe side
with my current set up on the peak and divine harness. I'm thinking I'll go back to handles and peak if I'm longboarding. I'm bummed the wind didn't
cooperate. half hour to change and sort the lines out for nothing basically. The weather just doesn't want to cooperate this year. Record rain and
lack of wind.
I checked the ATL craigslist already and there's very little shy of $100 believe it or not... I saw a good looking board on amazon for not too
expensive... I may go the birthday route in Oct... we'll see. I have an idea for a custom made wooden streetkite bar... little of my woodwork
fanciness (my other pastime) wants to mingle with my kiting... might put some 2m leaders on it for a little extra "line length"
I actually found my sector 9 board at play it again sports for 40. Most sector 9 boards are between 70-150 on Craigslist. Then other brands more and
lesser brands for cheap. Sector 9 seams to be Middle of the road. A bar would be easy to make. My first bar had 10' leaders using para cord and worked
fine in decent wind.
play it again is also a good source for cheap golf balls when your occasionally forced to play for some reason or another and it's good for cheap
equipment bags among other things.
I'm still pissed about the wind today. I just can't get over it. No time through the week anymore.
How come I'm not getting close to a million views like this video? You mean they would rather watch this than a pleasantly plump middle aged guy? I
don't get it
Hmmmmmm... I don't know Sean, she didn't have a kite.... But then again if I ever see a vid of you in a fluffy white babydoll dress, It would be a
different kind of vid for a different kind of forum that I really don't want to be a part of :barf:....
Sean - I'm with you, I don't get it at all... what she got dat you don't got? At one point the song lyrics went "the wheels on the bus go round and
round". Singer was slumming down in the toddler tune isle!
Debating a Landyatchz Switch 40 as my first longboard/to try out street kiting on... Any opinions on that board or reasons not to get it? There's a
used one on CL affordably, but there's some nice looking Sector 9 stuff available around the same price on CL locally. Been debating if the foot
holds/lock ins on that Switch 40 will be beneficial with the kite, or just complicate things with my starting out
Volock, I think I would actually prefer the foot holds. I haven't tried any longboard but the one I own so I don't know but I suspect I would like
the board your looking at. I will say that I took to my Sector 9 like a fish to water. It seemed very easy to learn on.

Thanks. Both are $75ish with new wheels on CL and listed being 1-2 years old and look in similar condition. I'm thinking either will be a nice intro,
as I've never skateboarded, only mountainboard and rollerblades. Footholds on the one I'm thinking may be nice for holding down speed/power in gusts.
by foot holds do you mean the dropped deck? That's what I think you mean but not sure. I don't think they would effect if you can hold more power.
Wheel traction would be more important.
Remember, a dropped deck with flush mount trucks is the same as a flat deck with through mount trucks. The lowest you can go is a drop deck with
through mounted trucks. My terminology may be wrong but I think you know what I mean
My terminology is probably way off, as skate/long board is completely new to me... So the deck is like or where it's a drop deck, but they put curvature in on the edges of the drop to help "lock in" (their term) your feet against. It's just one size
bigger than the linked picture, but the picture shows the shape better, and it has through reverse mounted trucks. The Sector 9 isn't a drop deck, so
I guess that makes my choice easy. Thanks both of you
Volock, that looks like it would work great. What I'm learning the deeper I get into this is it's like anything else. I think I'll end up with a
couple different types of longboards for different reasons
I'd research them more before buying. I've never tried them but I've read everything from "they're a scam" to "they're great". Keep in mind that is
a promo video.

Always hard to know with new tech like this. I'm not a boarder but one thing I'd be thinking about is would they be better or worse for resisting
sideways pull, as that would certainly be an issue with a kite in the air as motive power and the rider tacking against that load. If they were more
prone to slip sideways due to the decreased surface area being in contact with the ground at any given moment that could be a negative. I might be off
on this through. In the promo video they note that the wheels keep spinning in purposeful slides so maybe they'd wear more evenly when kiting and
using a board on asphalt.
Again, I'm not a boarder so all this is me just thinking about things theoretically.
I'm generally a fan of innovation like this and love that people are up for disrupting the status quo with new tech if it truly advances things.
I'm interested in this wheels advertised better performance and smooth ride on rough asphalt or the occasional rock or pebbles. Also, I like the idea
of smoother, more controlled slides that they are said to have. The idea makes sense to me. I'm just not sure they would be better enough to drop an
additional 30 dollars over traditional wheels. It would be well worth it for me if they do as advertised. Also the more they wear the more the
benefits would deminish, although I don't ride that often so I assume I would get a fair amount of use out of a set.
